TEMPO NC-100 NETcat Micro Wiring Test Tool, Ethernet Coax Testing, Digital Cable Tester for Voice, Data, Video, Coax, Ethernet (NC-100)

I purchased the Netcat NC-100 locally. It is a handy tester for go/no-go testing of patch cords and wire runs. One end of the wire in question attaches to the RJ modular connectors or threaded coaxial connector on top of the unit and the other end of the wire attaches to the removable transponder stored on the bottom of the unit. Pressing the corresponding button gives a wire map of the modular cable or an open/short for co-ax. It is about as easy as it gets, and makes it very easy to spot misfires jumpers or cable runs. The main unit also has a built-in toner which can send tone on any individual wire or all wires together in a modular cable for pick-up by Fox ‘n hounds receiver or butt-in handset. The unit includes an RG female/female barrel connector, two RG to BNC adapters, RJ-41 to alligator clips, and short RJ-45 STP jumper. You’ll have to supply your own 9V battery. The Netcat NC-100 doesn’t aspire to do too much, but it is fast and accurate at what it does, plus it is small enough to easily slip into a tool bag. The quality is definitely better than the cheap testers that are just a row of blinking LEDs. The NC-100 is a good deal if you want a reliable tester, but don’t need TDR and attenuation data like you get in the NC-500 which costs 5.5 times as much. My only criticism is that the NC-100 does not come with a carry case which would have been nice to make sure the adaptors snd patch cords don’t disappear into a disorganized jumble at the bottom of a tool bag. I’m glad to have the NC-100 and I would buy it again if I needed another tester.

I am hardwiring my home network and some of the cables can get quite lengthy. This tester works great and has made it easier to verify the cables once I put the ends on.

This unit I rate with mixed emotions. It works GREAT. It's a Greenlee.. It should... HOWEVER, NOT having a On/OFF switch was a bad decision.. Touching any of the 4 buttons auto turns it on. The second time I went to use it, I had to replace the battery. Poor choice on Greenlee in eliminating an important piece... If they provided a case designed for it, it may of not been a issue but they did not. I kepted the unit and always try to pack it in my case in such a way the buttons are not touched. All most impossible...

The few times I have used it it works fine in testing Cat5 cabling. But I give it a 3 star out of 5 for it is about as good as the others on the market.

Worst experience I've had with Amazon. Product would not do what was needed. I returned it untouched and refunded me partial what I paid. Will not purchase again terrible experience.

Simple tester for quickly testing leads.

No protection from POE and if plugged into POE will instantly destroy device. Company will not provide circuit diagram to help repair unit as their mentality is that it is impossible to fix once VOLTS shows up on screen. Other than that it does function properly but with no protections against accidental voltage it no longer becomes worth the cost.

Works fine. I do like how the two pieces attach together for storage. The no on/off button is annoying. I flip the battery during storage time to prevent any potential battery drainage. Price is a little steep. (At the amount it should come with a case) Also, this past summer it was affordable but the price keeps rising. Unimpressed by that. But overall good tool that is required in the cabling business.

Only 4 stars because lack of a on/off power button is a drawback, keep finding it turned on. Otherwise a great product.
