This Razor Works Well and Operates as Described - A Nice Little High Tech Razor!
Long, long ago I had an early version of the Norelco razor. It, too, had the three blades but was short and squat by comparison. Nevertheless, it was a good, functional razor. That lasted me decades. I remember the commercials. A guy would appear with the razor, can’t recall his name, and would say that he liked it so much he bought the Norelco company. It was a very effective and appealing ad. Must have been because I got mine as a Christmas present.I am glad that some version of the original razor still exists. Phillips has done a pretty good job at maintaining and improving the quality of the product. They have given it a longer handle and modernized the “floating” heads. My beard is somewhat heavy, or it would be heavy if I let it grow. It took a while – maybe a week to a week and a half – to become accustomed to the razor – where it would cut easily and thoroughly. Part of this, of course, was me becoming familiar with the operation of the razor. I have had it now for about three months.I started out with ‘wet’ shaves in which I used a shaving oil on my face and am now trying it as a “dry” shave. It does a good job both ways. I usually take my time and will take 5 to 6 minutes though once I have really taken my time at 13 minutes. Phillips Norelco recommends about three minutes to save your face. They also recommend that you go in circular patterns which I sometimes try but I sometimes ignore their advice on parts of my face that are more difficult to cut – jaw line, etc. Overall, a good shave.Occasionally, I will use the popup trimmer. The early versions of this razor also had this feature and it would be especially useful if I still had a mustache.Manual cleaning is a little harder than I recall as there are now three parts to each circular blade. There is a definite “screw to lock in” process when reassembling. Still not too difficult. It is easier to manual clean after a dry shave than after a wet shave as the oil has a tendency to make the cut whiskers stick together and to the razor. How often you clean it will depend on how often you use it combined with how heavy a stubble you are shaving. I clean it about once a week or so but then I sometimes don’t shave every day.In addition to manual cleaning, I have the 7000 with a cleaning pod. The cleaning pod is a small cylindrically shaped device which has a detachable top so that you can drop in a container of their cleaning fluid. Once the cleaning fluid is in you put the razor into the molded slot razor side down and it will cause the razor to turn on and off again as it cleans the cutting heads. It does a pretty good job and it has a pleasant, clean smell to it. However, after thinking about this for a while, I tried an experiment in which I placed the razor in a container with no more than 2 -3 millimeters of water so that only the razor heads were in the water, and I turned it on for about thirty seconds. This did a pretty good job at cleaning the razor but leaves stubble in the container you use. I would not recommend using more water as you do not want to drop the razor into the water.Did not realize this at the time I purchased it but this razor is high tech. You can get the Phillips Norelco app and pair the razor with your smart phone. This allows the app to monitor and time your shaves (refer to above). The app will also chide you when it thinks you are not doing a good job or take too long. Still learning how to use this.Overall, a good razor that does a good job at cutting stubble and they have made it high tech. I would buy it again and would recommend it to anybody.

I really like it after almost 2 years of using it.
I have been using it for almost 2 years. Battery last for weeks. I use it almost every day. Very smooth shave and no irritation. I will be changing the blades after all this time and they are still working very well. It’s worth the value after owning it for this long with no problem at all.

Best electric shave , but I don't like the new shaver head design
I used Norelco shavers for years, in 2019 made a switch to a Braun 9000 and after three years decided to switch back to Norelco. I am glad I did, it is a much closer shave than the Braun, the shaver is quieter yet powerful, and has lots of new features such as a minimalist charging station that doubles as a free-standing daily stand for the shaver, and a cleaning pod that is powered by the shaver. The result is that there are fewer power cords running to my bathroom counter. In fact, the shavers' battery is so good that I easily get two weeks of once-a-day 3-minute shaves with ample power remaining. so I use the minimalist charging stand as a daily stand only and plug the cord directly into the shaver every other Saturday to bring the charge to 100%. I could wait longer because after two weeks of shaving I still have about 50% of battery life left. It takes about an hour, maybe less for a full charge, then the cord gets put away out of sight for two weeks. it is easy to manually clean daily with warm water, So I use the cleaning pod every Saturday, it's self-powered and done in a few minutes, I think a pod of cleaner will last at least two months at this rate of use. As to the shave, in less than 3 minutes daily I get the closest shave I have ever gotten with an electric shaver. It's amazing. That said, I do not like the new design of the shaving head on the 7700. There is too much metal space between the edge of the head and the blades and too much open space between the 3individual shaving-blade pods. The result is that the shaver does not guide smoothly on your face while shaving and when shaving in an uneven area such as above the lip or along the jaw bone I experience far too much pinching for a quality shaver, something that never occurred with the old design shaving heads. If I could buy the old design head for this 7700 with the same cleaning and charging features as the new model I would do so, and the rating would be an overall 5 stars, not 4. Unfortunately, Norelco is not offering that option. The Bluetooth feature is OK, I'll use it for a while longer, but it's really more of a gimmick & opportunity for Norelco to send you advertising than a necessary tool for an adult to use while shaving.Update April 30, 2023 I continue to enjoy using this shaver. However, about 2 weeks ago I noticed the quality of the actual shave was deteriorating. It was taking longer and it was not close. this continued to progressively get worse until I asked if it could be that the blades were getting dull. I decided to order replacement blades, they came today. I installed them and indeed the shave is back to thesame quality as the first day I used the shaver. That's good news. What is not good news is that the original blades lasted a little less than 7 months, not the year that Philips tells you that they will last. Once they started to dull it happened very fast, there was nothing gradual about the blade deterioration. Replacement blades, at Amazon are about $35, fast delivery and installation is easy and took about 4 to 5 minutes. My suggestion is that you watch for the replacement blade set to go on sale and buy a set even though you think you don't need them. It will keep the price down and you will always be ready to do a replacement.Update, Oct.11, 2023 After using the Bluetooth app for a year now I have decided to discard it. Once you get the hang of the circular motion etc. the app becomes little more than an advertising mechanism for Phillips and an unnecessary intrusion, in my opinion. Shaving is just fine without the extra whistles and bells the app offers.

Nice shave
Very nice, close, comfortable shaver. Some have commented it feels a little flimsy but that might feel that way the head is opened for cleaning only. It’s nice and quiet too.
