Extras: * Bold and the Brash: Inside The Great * Palatial Panache: The Style of The Great * Gag Reel Review: THE GREAT SEASON ONE DVD - Why 5 stars when the entire 10 episodes are chock full of the "F" and "C" word, practically no one can say anything without said words. Then there is the sheer vulgarity - crude sexual scenes and innuendos. Even some torture. All of which turn me right off. So...Why? the reasons are - It is superbly written, acted (particularly by Fanning and Hoult, and, well, everyone). Well directed with immense sets and exotic costumes. The "vulgarity" is laced with crude but great humour, and the whole tone is one of everyone having fun. I cannot stress enough that this is adults only, but if the constant swearing and crudeness won't offend - enjoy this for what it is - "an occasionally true story" of Catherine who became "The Great" Review: Excellent series - After watching several Russian versions of this story I wasn't sure about this. But looking for something to pass the time during lockdown I decided to try it. How wrong I was to think it was going to be poor and not enjoyable, watching each episode just left me wanting more. I cannot wait until the 2nd season is released. I would recommend this to anyone now, at the time I bought it I got it for £14.99 which for the entertainment it provided I consider a bargain.

Hilarious
This series is 'great' fun. As blurb says 'occasionally true' which is always the case for historical stories, comedy or not. Great laugh throughout from the two protagonists especially excellent in normally straight roles here adapting to comedy with panache.

Peter the .... Horrible!!
This is a weird series. Bought after watching a few episodes on Channel 4. It's a strange mix of comedy with a serious dramatic subject. The acting is great by all, especially Elle Fanning, who has a very good English Accent much like Renee Zellweger does in the Bridget Jones films. I have watched the series once and will watch again to fully appreciate the dark comedy and cast performances. Hope there'll be a second series.

Great price
Nicholas Hoult at his best in this. Funny. Had me in stitches. Good first season. Roll on Season 2.

Lewd, Crude, Crass, and Not Funny
I bought the first season thinking that it had to be good which such a cast and I had seen the great reviews, and the trailer. Good grief, I managed to get through to the end of episode 2 and that was it for me. The charity shop can have it. When Peter the not so great was not saying Huzzah along with all his cronies, he was not saying the eff word. There were scenes of simulated sex, simulated rape scenes, simulated cruelty to animals, gouging out of eyes... Oh, yes, THAT was the bit where I ejected the disk and put the lot aside for charity. I wasn't shocked by any of it. I can sit through most things but I have to be entertained and this was simply, as the heading says, lewd, crude, crass, and not funny. The script appears to have been written by a halfwit. If you like it, great. But if you have not seen it yet, be warned. As for the disk itself, it was fine. Really good quality definition on a DVD. One good thing through - the sets and costumes were great.
