Philips Avent Advanced Bottle Steriliser, Kills 99.9% of Germs*, 10 min Sterilising Cycle - SCF291/01

The media could not be loaded. I'm very happy with this product. I've been using it for seven months and haven't had any problems with it. It's very easy to use and quiet, runs in 10 minutes, and my bottles are ready. The only problem is that it does get limescale, even though I use filtered water, but that's probably due to hard water. A quick wipe is all it takes, and it's nice and clean again.

I bought this to replace a Tommee Tippee steam steriliser which had decided to warp and had therefore become unsafe in my opinion.This is an expensive steam steriliser, but you get what you pay for (although you could plump for the older style AVENT steam steriliser which would still be as effective, although not as compact).The '3-in-1' refers to the ability to stack the 2 baskets singly or together - the smaller basket is intended to be used for teats, dummies/pacifiers, and breast pump parts, whilst the larger basket accommodates deeper items such as 6 bottles. Although the advertised product has a clear plastic small basket and lid, the product I received has a translucent plastic small basket and lid (you definitely cannot see through these!)There is a single switch to turn the steam steriliser on - you know that the unit is activated by a small orange indicator light (you cannot use this switch to turn the unit off, however). All that you need to do is pour 100ml of water into the reservoir in the base unit, press the switch, and the sterilisation process takes 6 minutes, plus 3 minutes to allow for cool-down (sterilised parts are very hot!)It is very easy to dismantle and clean this steriliser (the reservoir can be descaled with a mix of water and white vinegar), and the whole unit is nice and compact so doesn't take up too much workspace in the kitchen.You can fit 6 AVENT bottles easily in this unit, although it will accommodate other brands of bottle (e.g. Tommee Tippee 'Closer to Nature').

We had the avent microwave steam steriliser for 2 and a half years for 3 of my babies, Which was Fab! Our microwave went bust and we brought a new one however the micro steriliser did not fit in our new Microwave, so decided to invest in an electrical one, as our 3rd was still 7months old. And have our forth baby on the way so why not. Anyway this is what we chose, we didnt want any other brand as we have always stuck to Avent for bottles, teats, sippycups and steriliser. We are very happy with this its so straight foward and easy to use. I've read on other reviews some limescale has been building up. However we have not yet experienced this and it's been 4 weeks I think the trick is to let it air dry or wipe it down after every use and most importantly to keep it clean! It dose take longer to sterilise the bottles i'd say about 8-10 mins more than a microwave one as that only takes 2 mins, but hey as long as it dose the job. Plenty of space in thier for dummy spoons and bowls I find.Good product. Would definitely recommend.

It takes just 6 bottles at a time. Easy to use and clean. The bottles remain wet until you get them out to clean. I wish it dried the bottles after sterilizing but it works fine.

Every parent should invest in a sterilizer. I went for the most basic model that doesn’t dry because it was cheaper, but looking back, I should have spent a little more on the one with a drying function just because it’s easier to store after cleaning. That said, I have no complaints. I love mine even without the drying feature - it only takes 6 minutes to sterilize up to 6 bottles using just 130ml of water. I highly recommend it.

After 4 months of use, the product has a silicone type of cover on top of the heating plate that starts to peal and becomes dangerous and not hygienic anymore.Even if we have washed the product according to the manufacturing guide it is very pour quality the material used. I have tried to contact Philips on they website and ask to replace the part or to fix it, I have received a message saying that the product is not replaceable or fixable even if its under warranty. I am very disappointed.
