Battery in trunk but positive battery post under hood (for jump start). Can I connect power to positve battery post?

Yes. You should be fine to use the power cable provided with the light, the draw from this LED strip is very low, the 20 gauge wire provided is more than adequate, if a little short. I had to use my jump start post in my 2003 Yukon because there wasn't enough wire provided to reach the battery once the light was installed on the hood.

Does the button get pushed to cut power?

Yes, when the plunger is pressed in, the light will go off. So the switch has to be mounted so the the hood of the vehicle can press the button down when the hood is closed so that the light is off. I hope this helps.

Can two light bars be installed in series?

Potentially, however the wire is fairly thin and is probably only safely able to handle the power draw of a single light

Can you wire this into the inside of a truck toolbox?

Sure. As long as you have a 12v line or battery, you should be able to install it. Just be careful if you have to drill a hole out to wire it through your truck bed.
