Really disappointed with these. Have used the Blue coloured equivalent from another supplier - not Amazon - and they were fine. These purple ones don't come up to the expected standard. I've repositioned the one I deployed into different spots in the cistern over the course of seven days and it's just ineffective. Been in use for a week and there's no visible change in colour in the flushing water and no noticeable smell. What a waste.

I purchase these toilet blocks primarily because I enjoy having coloured water in the toilet, and the purple shade is particularly appealing. However, while they do achieve the desired effect, there are some considerations to keep in mind. If you’re looking for bold, opaque coloured water, these blocks will deliver that result. Aesthetic Appeal: The purple colour adds a touch of fun and uniqueness to the bathroom, making it a bit more interesting than the usual clear or blue toilet water. Cons: Need for Multiple Blocks: To achieve the deep, non-transparent purple that I prefer, I find it necessary to use both blocks in the toilet. Using just one block results in a semi-transparent purple that isn’t as vivid or opaque, which might be disappointing if you’re after a more intense colour. Longevity: The product claims to last for up to 2000 flushes, but in my experience, it doesn’t even come close to that. I would estimate that each block lasts for fewer than 200 flushes, which means you’ll be replacing them more frequently than expected. Cost: Given the need to use two blocks simultaneously and their shorter lifespan, this can become an expensive way to maintain the coloured water effect. However, if having purple water is important to you, this is still one of the few options available. Overall, these purple toilet blocks are a good choice if you’re specifically looking to colour your toilet water purple. They deliver a vibrant hue when used in pairs, but the need for multiple blocks and their shorter-than-advertised lifespan make them a pricier option. Despite these drawbacks, I continue to buy them because they do achieve the desired effect, even if it comes at a higher cost.

To be fair to the manufacturer, they can work well but it all depends on the type of tank your cistern has and the type of water fill mechanism it has. I have one cistern that fills up very fast with high pressure water. It also completely empties when flushing. This meant it didn't last more than a week so we're taking a max of 50 flushes which is a lot less than claimed. But that is due to my cistern not a fault of the product. I have another cistern that fills up very slowly and doesn't drain completely. This tank was completely the opposite. Hardly any colouring of the water occurred but it did last for over a month. I raised it up by placing two on top of each other. Now when the tank empties, it allows the device to empty more of its contents into the tank colouring the water more. So whilst I would dispute the number of flushers the manufacturer claims, it is more than likely down to the type of cistern, filling rate and how much water is flushed. With the ideal set-up, the "upto 2000 flushes" might be valid but mine didn't last anywhere near that figure.
