The quality is pretty good! I haven't had an issues with them. I'm sure you don't want to tug on them to the point of ripping them. I've used them and tightened them as I would a child's hair and have had a great experience. My daughter has even played around and put them in her hair with no issues. Hope that helps.

are the rubber bands clear?

The rubber bands look yellowish. The bow covers the band once in pups fur so you can't really see the band color.

Can you attach these to a collar?

no these are attached to a rubber band. they are great at staying in the dogs hair but not to place on a collar. maybe you could cut the rubber bands off and hot glue them to the collar
