Does this contain whey protein?

No whey. I use it because it is lactose free. Excellent product. Great source of protein. Have it with Almond milk, p-butter and a banana every morning.

What's with the fructose?

HFCS is the "bad" sugar, NOT fructose. It's a major component sugar in fruit, and if you look at glycemic index (rating of insulin spike, with 100 being pure glucose), it's only 19! That's way low, and diabetics should be using fructose or stevia to minimize raising blood sugar.
