Works as it should. Heavy enough to hold larger micrometers. Should provide many years of use.

This micrometer vise is an excellent value for what you get, BUT two things need improvement. It works very nicely to hold a micrometer so does what it should do.First, there are NO rubber feet on the vise so you need to supply your own. Without them, the vise will slide all over a smooth surface like a tabletop. Probably 2-3 cents worth of rubber feet (needs 3) would have gotten this closer to 5-Stars.Secondly, the packaging is terrible. This is a heavy cast iron base with a thin plastic bag over it. Absolutely NO packing material inside what was left of the shipping carton. It arrived with one end of the carton torn wide open. Pure luck that it arrived in one piece or at all. Again, a few cents for some bubble wrap would be a major improvement.

The pads on the clamp is a good addition to not damage your micrometer or caliper and the only part that might not be as good is the sliding motion for the knobs but nothing grease can't fix. It does come with rubberized feet and has a nice weight to it. The paint is not perfect you could find some missed spots exposing the metal which may rust but overall it should not affect the usability. You can touch it up and make some after adjustments like the previous reviews mentioned. It does drop onto itself when you adjust the side swivel knob which chips the paint but for the price it serves it's purpose. You could add some padding there. For the price you can't go wrong compared to others.

This stand works great, is heavy enough to be stable. It also has rubber pads on the base that prevent it from sliding.

This stand was too light to be useful. It would slide around on the bench when I was trying to use my calipers. I attached a chunk of steel to the hollow base and put rubber pads on the feet and it is much easier to use now. I should have just bought a better product.
