The product is labelled at version 1.966 on website and the card but the software is 1.8 and the apps are outdated and dont work properly

works well! the laser on my slim 70 series had died and didn't want it to go to waste - had a totally legal copy of vice city running off mx4sio within minutes.

I did this process a long time ago which at the time required you to playthrough 007: Agent Under Fire up to the start of level 3 with pretty ass backward controls. I didn't want to go through the hassle again when that game cost more these days than this pre-installed memory card. This works with SCPH-30001R fat model even though the product description says it doesn't. Boots right up and I was able to play ps2 games from usb and burned DVD. as well as a few emulators pre-installed. Good product.

Plugged this into Memory Card Slot 2 (as Slot 1 is taken up by my PS1 memory card with Tonyhax). It worked flawlessly and had Open PS2 Loader 1.2 on it (which supports exFAT drives). Oddly though, the description seems confused as to what models this works with. It says it doesn't work with 3000X systems, and that it also works with all fat models. Well, the 3000x IS a fat model (the launch model no less), and since the 30001 is what I used this with and it works, I have absolutely no idea why this listing says it doesn't work with it. It also had a side benefit, as my physical retail copy of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 for PS1 (what I use to bootstrap my burned PS1 backups through Tonyhax) wasn't regularly and reliably reading and would frequently give the red error screen. Once this was inserted however, my copy of THPS2 would read perfectly pretty much every time, and Tonyhax itself was more reliable. So not only did this thing work as advertised and solve a lot of my problems on the PS2 side of things, it solved my pre-existing PS1 problems. Definitely recommend, and I would recommend installing this in slot 2 on a 3000x or 5000x model with an official network adapter adapted to SATA, a PS1 memory card in Slot 1 with Tonyhax, and installing a 2-4TB SSD into it, to play backups of all your games. In addition, the FreeMCBoot and OPL supports virtual memory cards per game on the drive you're loading your games on, so you can free this memory card to simply run FreeMCBoot and any additional applications you may wish to add.
