I'm glad I didn't write a review upon unboxing the knife. I have to say, it felt cheap and flimsy the first time I held it. What I perceived is that this knife must be flimsy because it feels so unsubstantial when holding it. However, that is due to the featherlight titanium handle. I can tell now that this knife is durable, wicked sharp and built for the long haul. Would it be the knife I would choose if I knew I'd be using it all day long in a warehouse type setting? No. But that's not what this knife is about. This knife is all about being absurdly effective, durable and looking great doing it. The wood panels of the grip are pleasing to the eye and touch. The steel is a common one found in high end knives, and for good reason. The flipper is not spring-tensioned, so that was a minor, minor adjustment from my Kershaw Leek, my former long time EDC knife. I don't really notice a difference in effectiveness, it still flips open with ease. And I think that means it might be legal in more jurisdictions, though I'm not an attorney. The clip on the Boker is both good and bad. It's good, in that it is short and not flashy. However the tension left something to be desired, while clipped to my back pocket it didn't hold the knife in place. It twice fell out and both times I was fortunate that it wasn't gone forever. I used the included torx (sp?) wrench and removed the clip. Bending it carefully with pliers I was able to give the clip more tension. I now consider the knife to be perfect for my needs. There is nothing I would change about the knife now that the tension in the clip is resolved. EDIT: I have raised my review from 4 stars to 5. I now consider this knife to be indispensable in my day to day life. It's truly perfect, I can slice rope, open envelopes or cut my sandwich in half. I have taken it to my ceramic sharpener, and if I thought it was sharp out of the factory, it is twice as sharp now. It takes an edge like no other knife I've owned. And sharpening it takes like 3 minutes total. Easy to do once per week. I will likely buy one more so I have a spare. Not because I think mine will ever wear out, but in the next 60 years it's likely I'll lose it and I don't ever want to be without it.

I'm a bit of a knife junkie, and bought this knife to fill a hole in my collection, namely, as a high quality gentleman's knife. I've heard good things about the Urban Trapper, so I decided to check it out for myself. This is my first Boker Plus knife, and I was impressed with the packaging. It comes in a sturdy cardboard box with fitted closed cell foam packaging. Upon picking up the knife, I was surprised at how light it is. You can tell that they use titanium in the construction of this knife. I got the wood scales version, which was finished well. The flipping action took a little to wear in for a nice smooth flip, but I can easily flip it all the way to lock every time now. The blade material is a quality VG10, which is what I would consider a premium steel. It arrived razor sharp, the first knife I have ever described as being actually razor sharp. It has a frame lock, and I didn't move my thumb out of the way quickly enough when closing it once; all the blade did was touch my thumb and I started bleeding. Then, a couple of minutes later it bit me again and caused a second bleed. It's not the first time a knife had bitten me, but it is the first time the same knife had bitten me twice inn s couple of minutes. The fine detail work on the knife is exceptional, I especially appreciate the rounded spine. It may be Made in China, but obviously Boker is leaning on their producers to put out quality products. The only problem I have with it is it seems a little to lightweight for any heavy use. Of course, in its role for me it is a gentleman's knife, and I don't expect to be cutting rope or carving a spoon with it. It should mostly be used for opening mail or other light tasks. I am quite pleased with this knife, more so then in any knife I've picked up in a long time. If s friend was looking for a quality gentleman's knife, I wouldn't hesitate to direct them to the Urban Trapper.

Bought this knife in August to carry every day, knowing that it's a "gentleman's folder" and not a bruiser. The steel is great for the money, sharpens fairly easily and holds an edge really well. The blade is thin though so if you're the kind of guy that uses your knife as a general tool rather than a knife and tries to opens paint cans and stuff with it, then this one may not be for you. Probably not a good knife for ourdoor/woodscraft use either. If you use your knife to open packages and cut your apple at lunch and you want your knife to be a quality knife that holds a razor edge and doesn't look like a hunting or tactical/combat knife then this is your knife. It's like if the Opinel No. 8 was an assisted open with a liner lock and pocket clip. The blade is only slightly thicker than an Opinel if at all and is every bit as sharp. The flipper knob is a little tough to get the hang of. Something about the shape of it forces you to use a slightly different angle. I got the hang of it quick though and it opens quickly and reliably. Smooth action open and close. Doesn't take up much room in your pocket. Only after a couple months of ownership one of the screws holding the pocket clip came loose and fell out on mine and I didn't notice until I took it out of my pocket at the end of the day. So that's something to look out for. Being that they are "American and European designed and assembled in Asia" you can maybe expect minor problems in workmanship as far as assembly but the materials and design are great. I contacted Boker USA customer service and after a 2 minute phone call I had a pocket clip and 2 screws assembly being sent to me. Couldn't be happier with the customer service.

A very beautiful knife. I got the cocobolo wood handle and it looks great. It has a small profile and is very light weight. The blade is quite skinny, so you probably won't be doing any prying with it, but it feels like it would probably hold up well. It feels solidly built, but a bit on the small side. It's the first knife I've purchased with the IKBS open assist and I have to say I'm impressed. The opening and closing motion of the blade is perfectly smooth and very satisfying, just a light flick and the weight of the blade will typically be enough to swing itself all the way past the liner lock. Speaking of the blade, VG-10 is probably my favorite knife steel, so that was one of the main selling factors for me with this knife. It's sometimes tough to get the edge you need while sharpening VG-10, but it always holds that edge far longer than other steel in my experience. I don't really have any negatives for it. It's not perfect, but a few minor flaws aren't worth deducting a full star. It's just too pretty to be a work knife, but it's built solidly enough to be able to handle almost anything thrown it's way, I'd bet. While I doubt I'll carry it every day, I will probably carry it any time I need something fairly small and discreet in my pocket.
