I just came back to Amazon for backup SeaSense Airhorns as ours proved to be literally a lifesaver day before yesterday. A neighbor, an elderly petite lady, was attacked by a dog running loose in the neighborhood. My husband ran to help her when the dog, a 60-65 pound husky/shepherd mix, charged again. Thankfully, he was carrying the airhorn and was able to keep the dog at bay by periodically discharging the unit until emergency services arrived. The airhorn actually proved to be more effective than his pepper spray as the dog was often out of range and running constantly. BTW...Luckily, our neighbor will recover even after sustaining multiple bite and puncture wounds. The SeaSense Airhorn MAY NOT WORK WITH ALL DOGS but, in our case, it definitely prevented a further attack by a very aggressive dog!

This air horn is VERY LOUD! I bought it because we have many dogs on our street that come after my leashed dog and myself on our daily walks. I had a dog trainer suggest a canister of pressurized air but the dogs weren't bothered one bit by that so I turned to the air horn. The horn is so loud that the dogs are alarmed by it. It is a bit larger than I'd like so it's a bit bulky to fit in a jacket pocket but because the canister is large, the horn should last a long time.

I've only used it once and it worked as expected. It is the perfect size for me as I take my dog to acres and acres of farmland to run. There are absolutely no people out there and it can be a liitle intimidatimg given I am a very petite woman. Although the deer and coyotes are in abundamce. I've had coyotes follow me and my two dogs. A few times one dog has had a few tussles with a coyote. Horn would have come in handy then. It is so very loud and the sound carries quite a distance. This horn is extremly loud. I've only used it once to break up a fight between two gaggles of geese. 20-25 geese were facing off in 2 groups way, way across a lake. So far away I had to use binoculars. Two geese began fighting and a few joined in while a lone sandhill crane was apparently monitoring the situation and quite vocal about his disapproval. He appeared to be intervening. Comical. I triggered the horn once and every one of them immediately stopped, were completly quiet and just "stared" at me. It was like being in a cartoon . They then started up again. I hit the horn again; they all stopped and turned and stared at me for a few minutes then peacefully swam away. The crane appeared satisfied, stopped honking and went his merry way. It was amazing the horn was audible to the geese and had such an effect. Given my success with geese, the horn should have the same effect on the next coyote(s) my dogs pursue. I will make a quick update when it does.

Loud enough to scare coyotes in my backyard however you have to attach the airhorn to the canister. It doesn't feel like it ever gets tight and when you blow it you can feel air escape.
