KitchenAid Bowl-Lift Flex Edge Beater, KFEW6L for select KitchenAid Bowl-Lift Stand Mixer

It has taken me a long time to review this but I really did need time to work with it, I don't bake a lot of cakes or cookies (I will now). This beater fits my Kitchen Aid just as it is supposed to, after all it is made for it by Kitchen Aid. I was doubtful about how well it work after all it doesn't look very conventional nothing like the beaters I had used in the past, so I was worried it wouldn't incorporate or aerate batters very well. No need to worry. It creams and turns batters with butter into a very fluffy batter without any problem. As far as some of the concerns with how it scrapes the bottom of the bowl: the design is perfect, it catches every bit of flour or fluid that is in the bottom of the bowl and incorporates it into the batter so that everything is mixed in, it also scrapes the sides of the bowl without me have to once stop my KA and scrape the sides. The design of the mixer is such that it never goes in a perfect circle anyone that has this size KA know how it functions, I don't think my Artisan mixer went in a circle either, but I don't remember. People that are saying it doesn't mix haven't given it a try, more than once. I tested this on sponge cakes, and multiple types of cookies it scraped the bowl perfectly every time. It locks into place just as any other attachment that KA makes for their mixer and it has stayed in place when I have made large stiff cookie batches or small thinner cookie batches, this really is an amazing attachment. The other thing I really love about it is the clean up, it is so easy because there are no center pieces to work around and make sure that you have all the batter off of so there is no reason to not handwash it. So it washes up easily and very well. There has been no rust that has shown up as one person showed in a picture. So if you are like I was and quit baking cookies (much to my husbands heartbreak for a couple years) and cakes, get this beater attachment and enjoy making cookies and cakes again without having the hassle of scraping down the bowl again. It works great for me. I love it and I definitely recommend it.

I have the 6 quart proffesional Kitchen Aid Mixer, KP26M1XGA. I also own the New Metro flexible beater similar to this one, on Amazon and they both totally work. With both of them I see the same resulting the final batter, but this one is easier to clean because it doesn't have all the cross bars. The thing is, I used to own an old 3 quart lift Kitchen Aid mixer, and then I got the professional 6 quart kitchen aid stand mixer because I wanted the power. With the old 3 quart one, the New Metro did a great job because the beater hit the bowl with every pass and it has the flex edge on both sides so it is designed to also pick up the batter at the bottom bump in the bowl: If you have a stand mixer where it is hitting on both sides on every turn then I think the New Metro is the way to go because you will never have to scrape down the bowl including at the bottom bump. What happens is let's say while the the right side plastic flange is hitting the right side of the bowl, the left side flange is hitting the right side of the bump at the bottom of the bowl so it totally scrapping the bottom of the bowl while it totally scrapes the sides. Now with the 6 quart, the beater turns many times making a one full trip around the bowl, and only hits the bowl twice. So the end result is that with a sticky dough, you are going to have to scrape down the sides of the bowl anyway, so you might as well be scrapping down the bottom of the bowl where it has the bump, and at least have the easier clean up job with the Kitchen Aid beater compared to the New Metro. At least that is my thinking. And this one is cheaper. But they both work perfectly.

I have a 6 quart kitchen aid mixer and looked specifically for this size as my old one had split. It works beautifully.

I love this paddle attachment for my mixer. The scraper works great and holds up to the hundreds of dozens of cookies I've made. Only downfall is after a couple of years, the enamel starts to chop and the silicone on the scraper tore.

tl;dr Metal vs plastic. One time purchase vs needing to purchase another one at some point. Less scraping of the blade. Less wear and tear on your KitchenAid motor. I had a Beater Blade, but after about 8 years, the plastic started to crack near the top. KitchenAid did not have a comparable product 8 years ago, but now they do, so I went with it. Advantages: 1) Made of metal, not plastic. Enough said. Yes, it took 8+ years for my Beater Blade to start cracking, but this KitchenAid Flex Edge Beater should last a lifetime. 2) Only one side has a silicone scraper. This is both a pro and a con. Pro: KitchenAid designed this to be used with their machines. While having silicone scrapers on both sides reduces the amount of time needed to mix, it also increases the stress on the motor. I've used both of them, and the difference in time required to mix is < 30 seconds. 3) No cross members to scrape down, as it's made of metal. Both the KitchenAid and the Beater Blade greatly reduce the amount of bowl scraping required, with the KitchenAid, you will spend a lot less time scraping down the blade. 4) Using the KitchenAid Flex Edge Beater won't void your warrantee. Unless you admit to using the Beater Blade, KitchenAid really won't have a way of knowing you did so, but you will have to get your expensive KitchenAid repaired/replaced. KitchenAid states use of non-KitchenAid scraping blades increases the wear and tear on the motor. Cons: 1) Only one side has a silicone scraper. It takes a few seconds longer to mix using the KitchenAid Flex Edge Beater vs the Beater Blade. I've used both of them, and the difference in time required to mix is < 30 seconds, if that. 2) The KitchenAid is $5.00 more. As of Nov 2017, the Kitchenaid is $29.99 compared to $24.99 for the Beater Blade.

This works / fits for the Costco 6 quart bowl lift model KP26M9P.

I have tried SEVERAL fles edge beater bars for myKitchenAid KP26M1XNP 6 Qt. Professional 600 Series Bowl-Lift Stand Mixer, and after NONE of the Off Brand models not performing properly, either because they did not conform to the bottom of the mixer bowl or they were too loose on the mounting pin (making me fell like undue stress to the mixer) I finally decided to spend the OUTRAGEOUS $50+ on the Kitchenaid Brand, which CLAIMS to fit my mixer. As soon as I recieved it I was concerned that it looked a bit small, but gave it a try. As seen in the picture, it DOES NOT scrape the bowl sides! The metal beater that came with the mixer does a better job than this thing. I have come to the conclusion that APPARENTLY there just IS NOT a scraper blade that ACTUALLY fits my particular model... which is sad because it is a high end model that I have, and still do love for 10+ years.

Note: this has been mislabeled, it’s not for 6-qt bowl-lift mixers, it’s meant for tilt-head Artisan mixers. It’s far too small for a 6-qt bowl, missing the sides entirely. I found out the hard way. I attached a picture of the document that came with it listing all the model numbers it’s compatible with.
