How does the film get developed

Film takes about 3-4 minutes to fully develop. You start seeing an image after 1 minute or so. There is a chemical reaction that occurs when the film is squeezed through a set of rollers as it is ejected from the camera. So once the ink runs out, is the camera over? Or can I purchase more ink?

There is no ink. You purchase film packs. Packs come 10 photos to a pack and cost around $6.00/pack. Mini film can be purchased in both color and less common and more expensive black and white. Does it come with batteries - are they a specail type or regular aa or aaa type ?
