If you have a flea infestation, you NEED to get this. We tried nearly EVERYTHING for our flea problem and this is the only thing that worked. Our German Shepherd brought fleas into our home during the late summer. I didn't even realize the poor thing had fleas until I was scratching her one day and noticed a bite on her leg. I rolled her over to inspect her body and saw two fleas on her stomach. I let my husband know and after discussing it, we decided to try and treat the house with what we had. After all, it wasn't THAT bad. I had only found maybe ten on her, so we don't need to do much to get rid of them, right? WRONG! We used 91% rubbing alcohol in a bottle with a few drops of dish soap and sprayed down the entire house—every crack and crevice. We vacuumed thoroughly and I combed out our dog with a flea comb everyday. We used Eucalyptus, Lemongrass, and Cedarwood oil on her. Honestly, all of those things were STUPID ideas because they DIDN'T WORK AT ALL. In fact, it seemed like it made the problem worse! So, once the "natural" remedies failed, we picked up a flea carpet powder and bed bug spray. The bed bug spray was recommended for flea problems by the lady who worked at our local hardware store. We sprayed down the entire house and endured this HORRIBLE bed bug spray that made our eyes water, made us sneeze like crazy, and generally made us feel like we had insane allergies DESPITE properly ventilating and wearing masks. So, after all of that nonsense, we waited. The next day? Fleas. Everywhere. THANKS FOR NOTHING, HARDWARE STORE LADY! After that didn't work, we vowed to do thorough research on what we needed to get rid of these pesky little suckers. Not even a week later, we finally decided on Virbac. By then, the flea infestation had gotten SO much worse. I never realized just how fast these things reproduce and wreak havoc on your home, your pet, and your family. It was HORRIBLE, but we were absolutely DETERMINED to get rid of them. I anxiously waited for the Virbac to arrive in the mail. While waiting, my husband and I created a game plan. We would first treat the yard with Nematodes—yes, NEMATODES. We used 30 Million Live Beneficial Nematodes Hb+Sc+Sf - Kills Over 200 Different Species of Soil Dwelling and Wood Boring Insects. . Next, we would go to the vet and get a six-month supply for flea prevention for our dog. After that, I gave her an EXTREMELY THOROUGH bath. I spent at least 45 minutes in the bathroom, scrubbing every single inch of her with my fingernails. I used Dawn Dish Soap and water—that's it. I scrubbed and scrubbed, from her neck to her tail. I put a "necklace" of dish soap around her neck to prevent any fleas from trying to escape to her dry head. I then combed out her head with the flea comb afterward. The bath was VERY tedious and I was meticulous about getting every single one of those stupid fleas. When she was finished, I dried her off and went through every inch of her coat with a flea comb. Once I was sure she was flea free, we vacuumed the house from top to bottom. After our dog dried off, we put her outside while my husband sprayed the house with Virbac. During that time, I took my children to the movies so they weren't subjected to the chemicals in the spray. Once he finished spraying the house, he waited an hour, and vacuumed again. The next day, there were NO FLEAS. A week later, I found a few in the house, but they weren't jumping. They were lethargic, just crawling along the carpet. The bottle does say that you may see adult fleas for up to two weeks after spraying, but to rest assured that it will NOT turn into an infestation. They were right. We just kept vacuuming to make sure and suck up any of the newly hatched fleas. After that, I never saw a flea again. Not in my carpet (even after crawling around on my hands and knees and LOOKING for these suckers—I was paranoid! I HATE FLEAS!). Not on our dog. Not in the yard. Nowhere. I am SO thankful for this product and now we know, if we see a flea, we're getting Virbac. Quick Note: After reading through some of these reviews, I have to stress this: YOU HAVE TO TREAT EVERYTHING! You can't just spray your house with Virbac and expect the fleas to magically disappear. They're still going to be on your pet and they're still going to be in your yard. These little suckers are resilient and their eggs are damn near impenetrable. Virbac works great in the home because it has an IGR and prevents reproduction. However, you still have to treat your pet(s) and your yard! Virbac will only treat your home. You need something for the yard, whether it's nematodes, a flea spray, or a professional exterminator, and you need a flea prevention medication for your pet.

Fleas were really bad last year and I bought this. I sprayed it around my house after seeing a couple of fleas. Never saw another flea again. My vet recommended it. I bought an extra just in case but it sits in my closet. Amazing stuff!!

My vet recommended this when our home became infested overnight. This product worked better than everything else we tried. My cats were finally able to get relief, and the 13 year old, Tippy, was able to recover from anemia caused by the fleas. I really recommend this. And it is safer than "Vets Best" which has essential oils that are toxic to cats. Definitely go for Knock Out. So much better

Fleas are touch bastards to get rid of, especially as they lay hundreds of eggs per day after feeding. This is the 2nd time I have used this stuff, prior was in a previous residence. It really does help to kill flea and tick infestations. HOWEVER; keep in mind that this is not a spray and done. While it does kill the fleas and their larva it doesn't kill the eggs. Because they are protected. It does however contain IGR which inhibits the growth so fleas do not reach their full size biting potential. Be sure to test a small corner area or somewhere out of view to ensure no staining occurs on your carpet. The best method that worked for me was that I sprayed the carpet, as well as my cloth sofa, and the dog bedding area. I lifted up the cushions on the sofa and sprayed those. I also lifted the couch and dog bedding and sprayed under that as well as the carpet that it was residing over. I then ALSO used RAID Fumigator bug bombs. Note: Fumigator and not Fogger. The Fumigator requires to be placed into water inside the plastic containers it comes with. This allows a thicker heavier fog as opposed to the compressed can "Foggers" they sell. I have used both before and watched through the window that the fumigators do a better job, they also cost more. I left my house for 4 hours with the dogs and went to a dog park. This allowed ample time for it to work. Upon arriving home I opened the screened windows to allow it to air our for 20 minutes before bringing the dog's back inside. During this time I bathed them outside with Adam's flea and tick shampoo. I started with placing a ring of shampoo around their neck at the base of the skull. This will prevent fleas from trying to climb up their back and onto their head to "hide" while you're shampooing them. People are quick to shampoo and rinse off their dogs but the shampoo should sit for 5 minutes. After shampooing then VERY thoroughly (make sure you get the paws and inside the toes) I then blow dried them and fed them the flea/tick pills I purchased from my Vet. I then went inside and vacuumed the floor (as this vibration awakens the eggs causing them to hatch and also sucks up fleas hatching) and sprayed the Knockout spray again to kill any active fleas that might have hatched and missed the vacuum. I have a Dyson DC50 so I rinsed the vacuum filter with soap and hot water and sprayed inside the cyclone canister with the Knockout spray. I then took the dogs for an hour drive as they love car rides and because I needed the Knockout spray to dry out. Since then they have no longer had fleas and my arms and legs are no longer getting attacked. 1 Can worked for me and I have a 1 bedroom apartment that's entirely in carpet (aside from kitchen and bathroom). So depending on the size of your carpet area, you may need 2 or more cans.

This will be a somewhat long review, but hopefully it will be of help to those with a flea problem. I have lived in an area of Maryland for 17 years and never saw one flea on any of my dogs or cats....not one! This year, however, has been nothing short of a nightmare. My Dane brought in fleas and of course they got on the indoor cats. Initially, there was no indication of fleas on the dog until I went to change the blanket on her dog bed....what a shock! And of course, they multiply. My husband and I vacuumed really well and discarded the contents in a sealed bag and "bombed" the house at 3 different times.....I am sure that it helped, but didn't do the trick. We purchased the Virbac Knockout and used it under the couch (turn your couch over so you can spray under the couch, not just the floor), and under the beds and all furniture just to make sure that those areas were treated. Before I continue, let me say that what we did may seem overkill, but in the end it worked. Did one thing work better than another?.......I'm not sure, but I know the combination of all things left us flea free. So, with each step we still had fleas even though it was getting better. We purchased Nature's Wisdom Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth (you want the food grade in case your pet licks their feet---you can even dust your pet with it) and put it on the carpets, furniture, floors, everywhere. It is messy, but leave it for a few days. We vacuumed that up (it's best if your vacuum has a beater brush). We then purchased the Victor M230 Ultimate Flea Trap (we purchased 9 of them) and put them in various areas and rooms where the fleas were the worst. Don't get the other brand as the sticky disks that go in them aren't very sticky and we actually saw fleas go in the other brand and hop right out!! Also, during all of this we were treating the yard, but the dog kept picking up fleas in the yard. By the way, she was treated with a topical flea preventative that didn't work, but we purchased the Bayer Advantage II brand and that one worked (make sure that you put it on the 4 areas they recommend, not just between the shoulder blades). Back to the house and then the final on the yard. Okay, so everything was getting better in the house, but not as well as I wanted or thought it should be after everything we had done. I went online to look for further solutions. We mopped the vinyl and ceramic floors with Clorox water and it worked instantly. I didn't wring all of the water out of the sponge mop because I wanted it to sit on the surface of the floor and especially around the baseboards. The other solution (and again you want a vacuum with a beater brush) was salt on the carpets and rugs. I put it on heavy. From what I read, it breaks down the exoskeleton of the flea and they dehydrate and DIE! I believe in the end, that that was of great benefit. If you have a beater brush, it isn't hard to vacuum out of the carpet and rugs. I left it for about a week because as they try and move around in it, it removes that exoskeleton. Finally, the solution for the yard......25 Million Live Beneficial Nematodes Hb-Soil Pest Exterminator (everything I mentioned was bought from Amazon except the salt and use fine salt, like regular table salt). Just type in Amazon's search box what I typed above. I never knew of this product or I would have used it for other ground bugs. You need to wet the ground before applied and you can't apply in the sun and when they arrive, if you can't do them that day, you must put them in the refrigerator so they don't die. Okay, so my husband and I are out at one in the morning applying the nematodes because we are determined to rid that yard of fleas. Three days later, not one flea in the yard or any ants or any type of bug. Just make sure that you follow the directions exactly.....don't take a short cut. We mixed them in containers and then poured those containers into a pump sprayer and added more water. Make sure that you get around any shrubbery very well, because fleas don't like the sun and that is where they like it best. We will be treating our yard every spring and fall with the nematodes to prevent the fleas in the first place. Make sure all pets are treated with a preventative. Once you think you have the fleas under control, continue to use the Victor Flea Traps with new sticky disks in them, so you can monitor any area for a while. A trapped flea can't reproduce!!!...it only dies! Good luck to anyone with the nightmare that we had and hope to never have again!
