Standalone Hard Drive Duplicator, External Dual Bay HDD/SSD Cloner/Copier, USB to SATA III Docking Station

Used it to clone a 14tb hdd. It took about 20 hours to complete but I ended up with an identical drive with no data loss. Just make sure the source and target drives are in the appropriate slots or you’ll have a very bad day. I did a practice cloning of 2 much smaller drives (before cloning the 14tb) to make sure I was doing it correctly. HDDs got very warm during the cloning but caused no issues afterwards.

This device is simple awesome! I purchased a Crucial SSD hard drive, which comes with data transfer software but it's not the most user friendly as it doesn't give much by way of instructions, so it's difficult to track the progress of the data transfer until you figure out that it probable shouldn't be taking as long as it is for the process to complete. The duplicator is straightforward, easy to use and works like a charm! My laptop had and HDD drive that was being taxed to it's limits, slower than a snail and made me want to punch a hole through it. Now, I love it again because the speed difference is astonishing after using the duplicator to clone my drive. Just clone the drive and install it, couldn't be any easier...thought I needed a new computer but just needed to upgrade my drive to a faster one and the duplicator saved me days of transfer time because of it's ease of use and speed of transfer.

It has not.been tested with 22TB SATA HDD /their support.. My experience was that it did not work with either of two such drives. (Western Digital 22TB). It did work with small drive ~4TB that I tried. I liked everything I read about it other than being misled by the claim that it would work with any capacity SATA HDD. The LEDS were bright and the instructions were clear. I would purchase it again if it would work for or.my large drives. The tech support was very good. It answered every question. Returning the item was easy with the App on my phone. I chose a nearby UPS store and delivered the small accessories and the dockstation there. They scanned the QR code and gave me a receipt. Done! I hope they eventually make one that will handle large drives. I recommend the product for SATA HDD drive upto 12 TB.

StarTech items work well and last. This is my 4th StarTech item I have purchased over the last 8 years. Everything still functions as new. I already had one of their docks and I have use for a duplicator. So I trust StarTech devices. Easy to set up and use. And it works as advertised. I expect the longevity to be useful for many years even as I use it simply as a docking station for an internal drive most of the time. The duplication works perfectly, as I use it to create backups of other hard drives every week.

You can purchase 3 Wavlink brand disc copiers; however, this is much better built, more rugged, and better warranty overall. Yes, buy 3 Wavlinks or one of these. But the reviews on Wavlink are not perfect. Update 7/15/2024: I used this StarTech to clone from a 6 TB to a 20 TB drive. Even after entering the Windows Disk Management System, I could not get my computer to recognize ALL of the 20 TB disk space. It would not allow my computer to "expand" the drive size (those who use Windows 10/11 will know what I'm talking about). I tried it again, and again. Same problem. It does say, however, that a new drive should be "initialized" before putting it into the disk cloner. I did not initialize--and that was not necessary with the Wavlink (less expensive but more cheaply built) product. I returned the 20 TB drive realizing there was no way my computer was ever going to recognize the clone and expand to 20 TB. I tried Acronis, Disk Drill, AOMEI and none of them would allow the 20 TB clone to expand to the full 20 TB. According to the info supplied by Amazon, this docking station will NOT clone drives >6TB. I wished I knew that prior to the purchase of the SDOCK2U313R.

StarTech Standalone Hard Drive Duplicator worked for win 10 make sure the drive is bigger or the same size copied 450gb in like 5hr

Bought in July and used it to set up lab. Worked fine. Got it out over Christmas break to redo some machines and there is no power at all. Very disappointing. Hope the is something the manufacturer is willing to do about this.

Worked first time and created a 1TB clone in a couple hrs.

Up to now, I really love this station. I can insert 2 disks at a time. They are both accessible. Read/write speed is fantastic!
