Grandkids are absolutely delighted
My grandkids couldn’t wait to dive into this project. Assembly was extremely exciting for them. The joy in my heart was to see the gleam in their eyes as they set up the radio project, step by step. Instructions were crystal clear, process was safe for kids (no danger from any parts), exciting and interesting, stimulating and fun. Fully assembled radio is functional with strong signals from local radio stations. For these 5, 7 and 10 year olds (I adore them!), there’s no doubt that this project has strengthened their aptitude as well as their love for science. Super highly recommended for stimulating interest in science. Why wait? Go get a snap project for the kids. As a former teacher, I say emphatically: you can’t go wrong with education. And science education can be fun too!!

Snap Circuits FM Radio picks up 10-20 stations on a 12 inch Wire
My 4 year old grandson enjoyed putting the Snap Circuits FM Radio together. It worked great and functioned flawlessly. We do live in the Los Angeles area so there were many stations to listen to. I was amazed how far the "kit" craft had come from the days of "Heathkit".I sat between my 6 yr old grandson and 4 year old grandson while they put together the Snap Circuits Motion Detector and FM Radio. Both kits are just the right size and have fewer pieces to get lost than the big kits but still have enough different experiments to keep them each busy for a 2 hour stint (and that is hard to do with two young boys!). It made for a wonderful Saturday afternoon. Yes I helped them (The box says ages 8-108) but for the first time playing with electronics these kits are great. No soldering iron required just snap each circuit component (housed in a plastic carrier) on a plastic circuit card. The picture instructions made it easy for the boys (and me) to understand how to put it together. You do have to mind the order in which it is assembled however, so guidance is important. Since we didn't complete all the experiments the boys talk about how they want to get back together with "Papa" to complete the experiments.

It works and it’s easy for kids and me.
This is an amazing kit. It is easy to put together and it works . It’s also easy to take apart for the kids to do it again. The base on this kit is rather flimsy compared to the robust bases on the other kits. The Snap Circuit kits are a wonderful way to show electronics to kids and they can do them with the very simple and easy directions. As Grandparents we will be buying more of these kits.

Easy to put together and make it work
Our 10 year old son was bored at his grandma’s house this summer, so we sent him this kit. He had a great time putting it together. It didn’t take him very long to figure out what to do and once it was finished, he was showing everyone how it worked. The pieces are good quality (nothing broke when he had to take it apart to pack up his suitcase when it was time to come home. He was able to put it back together later and show us in person how it worked. And it does work! You can change the channel and find what you want to listen to. This can make some annoying noises (I can’t remember what my son did to it to make it make an awful noise) but if you have assembled correctly and find a station, it’s fine. It’s not very bulky and is easy to take apart and put back together. Our son had fun building this so we ended up getting him more circuit kits. These are great!

Fun, but directions for additional projects not very clear
We purchased the Snap Circuits Jr. kit a couple months ago (Christmas present) for our 5 year old son because we thought he'd enjoy it. We underestimated how much: we thought he'd like it, but he LOVES it-- to the point of obsession. He spends hours a day building circuits and really has learned quite a bit. He expressed excitement and enthusiasm for acquiring other kits (he's built every one of the 101 projects in the SC100 kit at least a dozen times at this point...). So when it came time to acknowledge a job well done, I thought this little kit would be a nice reward (some of the snap circuits kits are very expensive; these mini kits seem quite reasonably priced). He was really excited to build a radio because some of the parts are different than what he has in the Jr kit- specifically the adjustable resistor, amplifier, and the FM receiver (plus a higher voltage (4.5v) battery, it runs on 3 AA) they may be redundant for other kits, I'm not sure.In any case, he was very excited, and was able to assemble a working radio in a short time (I helped him the first time, but he subsequently was able to take apart and reassemble by himself no problem). He was delighted. He was really excited about the additional projects, too (there are 3 other circuits you can build from this kit) but the directions are very difficult to understand. The radio circuit is depicted pictorially (as are all 100 circuits in the SC100 kit) but for some reason, the additional projects in this kit are not pictured; there are just written directions and they are difficult to understand. My son is a very proficient reader, so that's not it (even I was having a hard time deciphering the instructions, and I have a college degree). It just seems like a couple more diagrams would make this kit a lot more user friendly. For anyone else with kids that like this kit, check out the SC100 and 300 kits. My son can't wait to upgrade and is asking for the snap rover kit for his birthday in a few months. He's hooked. Overall from both a fun and educational perspective I've been really satisfied with these toys. As far as durability, what we have has been experiencing heavy use for a couple months and so far has held up well. There are little improvements to be made here and there (I also intend to review the SC 100) but overall I think they're great and if the enthusiasm persists, I see us buying more.

Great learning device!
My 9 year old son absolutely loved putting this together with his dad. My son loves to play the radio on the toy HE had a hand in out ting together. He was so proud that he took it to school for show-and-tell.It was very easy to out together but taught enough about how connections work. The instructions were very thorough.
