Great product! Purchased to reduce the scalding risk to an elderly and wobbly relative, from carrying a hot kettle; so glad I got it!. The HotCup does exactly what you expect- it heats & dispenses a cup of boiling water (faster than a kettle and much more safely), into a waiting mug. It only heats one cup at a time, so is better than a kettle for both the planet and the household bills. It is also a fairly snazzy, blue-lit black & steel, item to look at, (it thrilled and then crushed my coffee-snob little brother, who momentarily mistook it for a higher-end coffee thingy lol). No way to tell yet how robust it will be, but so far the OneCup has proved to be a great improvement on the old kettle. Mum has had no problems learning how to use it, as it’s totally intuitive. Neither she nor I (!) have yet forgotten to put a mug in place before pressing the dispense button. I’m almost certain this will happen sometime, so it’s good there is a drip tray to deal with most of a worst-case spillage (NB drip tray holds just 210 ml-ish, so if you DO make this mistake, whack a handy receptacle under it sharpish anyway). In terms of build quality, it seems reasonably sturdy, though is undeniably a somewhat plasticky entry level product mostly made of…plastic. The grille you put the mug on is stainless steel and easy to keep nice & shiny. It is easy to fill, although the fill aperture is small and I avoid filling it from the tap, instead using a jug with a narrow spout, about twice a day, to do this. Do make sure you don’t overfill it, as it will discharge excess cold water through the spout if you do…Otherwise, upkeep is minimal- I basically empty the drip tray and wipe it all down every couple of days. There are two things to bear in mind if you’re deciding if this is the hot water dispenser for you. First, this model dispenses 250 ml of boiling water each time; do ensure your mugs are big enough to take the full volume dispensed, plus a little space on top to allow for milk and to limit spillages. If you are especially committed to more delicate teacups /smaller coffee cups, you should consider a model which allows you to vary the volume dispensed, and maybe also allows you to vary the temperature for each cup (Breville and its competitors produce such models and the price for them is obviously higher than this basic one). Second, if you are trying to reduce your exposure to microplastics (our last kettle was specifically chosen to eliminate plastic contact with the water), this is definitely not the machine for you. Not sure which machine is, but I assume money will buy you anything you want… My budget is not huge and for me the choice was between the gradual and unquantifiable risks of chronic plastic exposure and the immediate danger of a disastrous injury. As giving up tea is obviously a total red line for Mum (I daren’t even suggest such a thing lol), this is the compromise I’ve had to make. Finally, I would definitely recommend this product for anybody with balance issues, general weakness or arthritic hands /wrists, for whom carrying/using a kettle may be painful or dangerous. It could help reduce discomfort, or even help you avoid a nasty accident. I’m certainly much happier now with Mum making herself hot drinks when she wants, which helps protect her independence as long as possible. Sorry for posting such a long review- hope it’s helpful to at least some of you!

Fast boils but be aware it is UK plug if buying to use in AU. Purchased adapter from Kmart. Only regret is I should have bought larger one.
