Is this good for plastic?

I used it for my stairnose and they all fell off. That material qas a harder plastic.

does this bond instantly, or does it have to be held in place to set?

Hi there. No, it does not. Apply adhesive in temperature of 40° F and higher. Press material into place. Lift off for 2-4 minutes, then press back into place.

Can you use this to glue a new piece of carpet you're replacing due to damage?

We do not have a recommendation for gluing carpets.
