Black Diamond BD400041 Serac Strap Crampons

Great crampons. Size them to your boots before you head out. Easy to attach, even using gloves. Stayed on my boots on the rock pile of the presidential mountains of NH in winter! Thumbs up! The extra 2 points make a difference.

I purchased these after a cheaper, Chinese pair of crampons failed after only a few steps. I felt the Black Diamond Serac Strap On crampons were securely strapped to my flexible hiking boots (LL Bean leather Crestas). I used them on very hard packed snow on a short but steep ascent and at times a compound slope. They provided much more tractions than the 5/8 inch microspikes I used on my previous ascent where I had to heavily rely on my trekking poles to maintain traction. The slope was 45 degrees and more.
