Hello, why pre order isn't available?

There was a "backdoor" link to purchasing the system, I thankfully was able to pre-order one.  So I do know, for 100% fact and certain, that they were limited to 1 per person.  I was going to get 2 for a friend who wasn't able to pre-order himself and Amazon didn't allow it.  It is dirty the way the entire industry went about doing pre-orders for the PS5 however.

What is it that is different from the $499 model or is this just price gauging?

Why is everyone assuming this question is concerning the $399 vs $499 editions? It's right there in the question, "What is it that is different from the $499 model", so that is the base model in question, suggesting to me that this question concerns a price *above* $499, not below it. I see an official Amazon price of nearly $900 as of 8-25-2021, and so the question remains, what is different from the $499 model and is this price gouging?

this is price gouging. I’ve watched the same exact product in the same exact quantity a year ago and paid only $19.99.  How can it be legal to have the price go from $20-$57. That’s $37 more. That is absolutely ridiculous. You need to do something about the seller or I will report it to the attorney general and the consumer protection bureau because this is disgusting.

Yeah it seems that because Walmart didn't follow the release date, everyone skipped to opening the preorder instead of telling anyone. My wife got an alert from the Walmart app and she wasn't even signed up to get ps5 info. But don't worry, there will be more waves of pre order. Keep your eyes open.
