The bold artwork on this edition really stands out—it has that striking, collector’s-only vibe that makes it feel special right from the moment you hold it. As for the story itself, it’s intense, gritty, and exactly what you’d expect from something tied to Keanu Reeves. It has that cinematic, larger-than-life energy with plenty of action, but also just enough mystery to pull you in and make you want the next issue right away. It’s not just a fun read, but a standout collector’s item too. Definitely glad I grabbed this one. (Actually grabbed a couple :D) Review: Gorgeous visual novel and existential tale - Gorgeous visual novel with striking colors and what feels like a cinematic approach to storytelling about a conflicted angst-ridden, half-immortal anti-hero. I love existential stories and books that explore themes to such as time, life, and death as well as the implications of a person who doesn't die but is surrounded by death. There is such beauty in the art that I felt guilty turning the pages out of fear that I would bend and ruin my pages. When I finished it, I put it on my shelf. It will not be borrowed. This is for my collection.

This would sharpen you up and make you ready for a bit of old the ultra-violence.
Yes. Oh yes. Drama, intrigue and Keanu Reeves stabbing a man to death with a rib. Interested yet? You should be. I'm going to first start with the downer part of the review, because we should end on a high. Don't walk away just yet! I don't read huge amounts of comics, but I'll buy a trade paperback of something that catches my fancy every couple months. Take that into consideration as I make my first critical statement. I had to read the first few pages a couple times to get comfortable with the flow of dialogue and who was speaking. After I figured out how the color coding worked, it was easy to read and the flow was fine. That said, I wasn't a huge fan of how it was implemented. I realize this is probably just me not being initiated properly into comics, but it is what it is. The second critical statement is the one that really ought to be obvious, its niche. There is a truly, astoundingly, prodigiously large amount of violence. Unless that's your thing, you're not going to enjoy this. If you're squeamish, you will actively dislike this. So, you know, not for everyone (fortunately, I'm not everyone). Bleeding off of that final critical comment, I'm going to make my first praise: There is a truly, astoundingly, prodigiously large amount of violence. No one is going to accuse BRZRKR of pulling its punches. The aforementioned scene where Mr. Reeves uses his hand to pull a rib out of a man who was, up and to that exact moment, still alive and then proceed to stab a different individual to death... well I saw that and started giggling with malign glee. Its refreshing, on occasion, to see a product stand for what it is so boldly. The next praise I have was for the story, actually. No, its nothing new, covert government agencies, corrupt scientists and the unstoppable warrior. That said, while some folks have pointed out it is a trope, it is worth realizing that some of the elements of the story are tropes for a reason. They resonate with audiences well, and some of the tropes here, have been around as long as we have recorded stories. I'll avoid pointing out the specifics of why I think that the handling of the backstory made it substantively more interesting than many of the other similar stories, because, spoilers. However, I can say I found it satisfying and I hope that they can successfully carry some of the themes seen to the end. My final positive is the art. I did find some of the panels to be a little bit disappointing, however on the whole it was illustrated, and colored, in a manner that highlighted the action, showed flow and left me very entertained. Long story short - Recommend to a friend: Only if they like violence. Story: Light on character development, heavy in tropes. Perfectly fit for the illustration and all around good fun. Art: Dramatic and enjoyable. Final Rating: Four out of Five. Would read again, will buy the next issue. Quite happy with the purchase.
