Yes, it will protect you from lava. I bought these gloves and used my gloved left hand to retrieve my food from within the molten rock, which came out perfectly seared on all sides. I can only use my right hand to do fine detail work now like turning doorknobs, but it was worth it.

Q: Can these withstand spills from liquid metal. my husband has small smelter for jewelry copper aluminum etc... i dont know the temp which it melts.

Unalloyed aluminum melts at 1,215°F, so any molten unalloyed aluminum will be at least 1,215°F. Copper melts at 1,983°F, so any molten copper will be at least 1,983°F.
