Excellent piece of equipment.
I read a lot about the Outlaw 5000 prior to buying on so I had my expectations set properly when I finally purchased one. First one arrived DOA. Look, it happens, especially with electronics. I've read several accounts of the same situation involving gear that cost $6500 and above. So again, it happens, no reason to leave poor feedback or deduct stars. Big Ben at Outlaw was a gentleman and shipped me a replacement right away. Luckily I work out so hauling around the 50 pounds beasts wasn't too bad. When the new unit arrived I made sure it powered up before installing it in my audio stand. It did, so in it went. I've had it in use for three days now and I couldn't be happier. I have this amp running my four JBL floorstanding speakers which I've owned for about 4 years now and I can say with all certainty they have never sounded better. In conjunction with my receiver driving the center and height speakers I am very, very happy with the audible improvement this amp has supplied. The largest improvement was the cleaning up of the low end. Bass is now much fuller while being smooth and nonabrasive. Especially at louder volumes. Yesterday I played Halo for hours at 70db and the amp barely was warm. This amp does in fact run cool like you may have read. Overall this amp is a fantastic piece of audio equipment. Leagues above the Onkyo amps I owned prior while not being that much more costly. Highly recommend. UPDATE 10/19/17 The unit is still performing flawlessly, and by flawlessly I mean FLAWLESSLY. I use it everyday, never more than lightly warm to the touch no matter how many hours it's in use. The 5000 drives my L/C/R JBL speakers superbly. Nothing function wise, but it's a nice coincidence the blue LED power indicator matches up with the blue LED on my Onkyo receiver's "pure audio" indicator which just adds a nice little touch like they were meant to work together. Anyways like so many have noted, this amp is marvelous and I highly, highly recommend it. UPDATE 6/16/18 Still going strong with zero issues. Since my last update I changed the stock power cord in favor of an Audioquest NRG-4 power cord. What an improvement the NRG-4 made. So much clearer and distinct. I have the 5000 running my Heights, Surrounds and center channel now leaving the receiver to power the mains. I have Audioquest Colombia's in service between receiver and Outlaw. This set up has been the winning formula for me. I would highly recommend giving the NRG-4 power cable an in home audition if you're still using the stock power cord. In the event you don't experience the improvements I did simply return it for a refund. Happy listening my friends! UPDATE 5/25/19 What can I say? This amp is nothing but smooth sailing over calm seas. I use the 5000 literally EVERYDAY without any issues what so ever. The only change to be mentioned is I've dropped the height speakers from the equation as after many, many hours of experimentation I found the classic 5.1 set up to yield the best sound field in my living area. Which means the Outlaw 5000 is only running my Center and surround speakers. I am VERY tempted to audition the 976 processor and put all five channels into service, but my Onkyo RZ-800 is fully functional so it's hard to justify the cost when everything is working well and sounding so damn good. I've also looked into other amplifier options ( cause I love to shop ) costing A LOT MORE but from everything I've read from professional reviews and regular audio folks like me, it seems that the Outlaw 5000 cannot be bested for my listening habits and room size no matter how much I want to see glowing gauges moving to the music. Cheers!

Really delivers the goods.
Yup, this is a 50 pound beast. I am a senior citizen. I needed extra muscle from my senior wife.It delivers in sonic clarity and delivers the power to drive a 5.1 home theater. I purchased a Marantz Cinema 70s to pair with it's preamp section which is outstanding. The Marantz in 5 channel mode sounds less detailed when using it's amp in comparison. Wimpy.. Unfortunately, Outlaw no longer makes preamps. I have highly sufficient vintage JBL 8 ohm speakers, which can be driven to ear splitting levels.. This amp does not clip. I had problems setting up the Marantz and could not get sound from the unit.. Initially I thought it was the Outlaw. Contacted Outlaw, filled out a "ticket" and promptly was contacted by a tech. Turned out there was no problem with either electronic device. Outstanding bang for the buck. And it pairs nicely with the Cinema 70s.

Fantastic Amplifier
I purchased two of these. One for my rear speakers, and the other for my parents Home Theater that uses unbalanced outputs (as it is an 'amplified' AVR). For my main channels, I run an Outlaw Audio 7140 which will be reviewed on that product page. The 5000 is the 'cheaper' model, drives 5 channels, and at a lower total output. However, it actually weighs MORE than the 7140. The unbalanced inputs are great for Home Theater setups, and despite having a very nice Yamaha receiver I thought my parents was lacking detail. Added one of these to it and we are running 5 channels off of it, and 6 off of the AVR. Don't believe for a second that an AVR actually puts out the wattage listed. The Yamaha they have is supposed to be 150w/channel but there is no way it is anywhere close to that. Measurements put it closer to 35w when ALL CHANNELS are driven. This, as well as other Outlaw Audio amplifiers indicates the wattage with ALL channels driven. For my own home theater, this runs the rears and is probably several levels of overkill. However, I don't have an amplified receiver so I needed something and this seemed like a smokin' deal. Boy was I right. The detail just in the surround channels is impressive. Safe to say, I am an Outlaw Audio convert. I wanted their stuff for years but never had the timing and money worked out to get exactly what I wanted. Now that I do have it, I'll never let timing get in the way. Instead I'll wait until i have cash in hand and they have what I want - Outlaw Audio is the real deal.

Sounds Good but the Buzzing is annoying!
Sound is good but the buzzing is super annoying. I mean I don't even need to be close to the speakers to hear it! 😒 I looked at the reviews and pulled the trigger on the perchase. Cost is almost as much as much as the receiver it self. Simple set up and is straightforward. It even came with a 12v trigger. This thing is a heavy weight! Just putting it in the TV stand is a two man job unless you are a weight lifter! Lol With that being said I was super excited about this. I was under the impression that because it was so so heavy and it talked about all this signal noise separating that it was impervious to any type of noise. That the shielding is top notch. But for some reason this isn't the case. I even ponied up for the XLR Cables. Nothing helped with this extreme buzzing sound. So some how I have taken a step backwards from just using the receiver. "SIMPLY BECAUSE OF THE BUZZING" Denon AVR-X6700H 11.1 but with a amp connected it is a 13.1. But I don't want to give up quality for quantity. So I am going to return this receiver and opt for the 2 channel Marantz Amp. I just thought it would be better if I had the amp run all my floor speakers and the receiver run all my upper Atmos Speakers. But now all my floor speakers hum badly. I hate to take this thing apart and start over. But unfortunately I have to because I'm not happy with this product. Update! So I did some research and troubleshooting. Turns out the 12v Trigger wire puts off a lot of interference. And you have to put a wire on the grounding terminal to minimize the noise. While not all together gone. It is day and night better. And I think I can get it to improve further if I get a higher quality 12v Trigger wire. Hope this helps someone else. So I'm going to keep it now. 💯

Great amplifier. Please use the ground if you're experiencing noise/hum.
Great amp. Plenty of power. There was a loud hum initially when set up but grounding it to my AV reciever quickly solved the issue which is clearly explained in the owners manual. Detail at low volume is phenomenal now and boy does it get rowdy when you turn it up. Very Happy.

Big upgrade for good speakers running on AVR power.
I don't write many reviews but for this amp I am enjoying it so much that I feel compelled to. I can't compare this amp to others as it's my first audio amplifier, but I can tell you about my personal experience and maybe it will apply to you. I'm sure I'm not the only guy running nice speakers in a home theater on an AVR alone. About 20 years ago I invested in some nice MBQuart Q1002S speakers and a Q series center as well as surrounds. They are 4ohm speakers but the entire time I've had them I've been running them on various Denon AVRs. They spent the last 8 years or so on a Denon 3808ci that I THOUGHT sounded pretty dang good. It could go loud but it always got a bit harsh at very high levels which I always attributed to the titanium tweeters in the Quarts. The Denon 3808ci has pre-outs so getting a nice amp was always a possibility. I just never thought it was needed nor did I want to pay 2k for something I didn't really care about. Ignorance is bliss, right? So then this amp comes along and after reading about it a bit I thought it would be a nice gift for my son-in-law. So my wife and I bought the amp and had two months to kill before christmas. I figure hey, why not stick it in my system and give it a go, right? Curiosity got the better of me. I'll tell you what happened first and then tell you how I feel about the sound. What happened was my son-in-law bought another amp from a friend and this one was no longer needed. I really liked what I heard after about a week of using it, but still didn't really think of it as something I had to have and we decided to box it up and send it back. BIG MISTAKE! When I had the amp and was playing music through it at one point I cranked it so loud that my wife from the other side of the house commented on facebook about how the entire house was vibrating but the sound was clear and clean and she really liked it. After we sent the amp back, the first time I tried to turn the same favorite song of hers up loud she got up and came in and said "OW, THAT HURTS"...the difference in sound was obvious, especially at those high levels, and frankly when my wife notices it that means it's REALLY obvious. She usually doesn't notice or care about things like that. We ended up lasting about a week without the amp, somehow being bery unhappy with the sound that we had been previously been ok with for 8 years! Finally decided to order one of these beauties for ourselves. The Outlaw 5000 is back and the sound is beautiful and we are very happy. Much clearer and warmer than the 3808ci by itself. As I said, my speakers are 4ohm so this amp is now driving all channels at 180wpc!!! If you have 4ohm speakers running on an AVR this amp is a no-brainer. It took a harsher, high-volume and turned it into effortless "sweet" volume. Even though the AVR says it's much higher volume than before, it seemed less "loud" if that makes sense. I never knew exactly what "effortless" meant regarding sound through speakers until I heard it for myself(although I've seen it written many times). I have often heard audiophile guys talk about how it's more important to get high end electronics than worry about the quality of your speakers. Not that your speakers don't matter but if they are driven by low-end electronics they aren't meeting their full potential. I can now speak to that from personal experience. I find myself turning the volume much higher on my AVR now with this amp. My speakers and my ears just love the difference. I was considering new speakers to upgrade but I think for 660.00 shipped this is about as big a bang-for-buck upgrade as I could've ever hoped for. My wife is usually not that enthusiastic about my ideas regarding home-theater upgrades, but she was all-in on this one after hearing the difference for herself. I think the key for us was to have it and get used to it and then have it taken away and having to live without it. Lots of frowning going on once that amp left the system. We just never realized what we were missing. If all you have is your Denon or your Pioneer or your Yamaha or whatever AVR driving your speakers you owe it to yourself to give this amp a listen. For us it completely changed the sound for the much better.

Outstanding amp, for such low price
I was surprised, clean, clear sound. Powerful, no hiss, zero. I reccomend this amp, I use it as a center channel amp.
