America's Italian immigrants have had a disproportionate effect on the country's culture, and especially music. The likes of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Perry Como and Al Martino lit up the airwaves with their cultured crooning and are still revered in the current century. Mario Lanza is another name to rank up there with the greats. His story ended in 1959 at the age of only 38 - yet, for one golden postwar decade, his was the name on everyone's lips. He was also one of Hollywood's biggest stars, and from the moment he burst onto the screen in That Midnight Kiss in 1949 through to his last film, Lanza's good looks and exuberant personality made him a big-screen natural.

BETTER THAN THE REAL CARUSO
I love opera, and so I saw the movie (for free) on a Opera site. I love the sound of Mario Lanza's voice. He was a top Tenor in his day. There are only a handful of Tenors I like, Pavarotti, being the greatest of all (King of the High C's). Mario, has a beautiful voice, and you know in our time 2023, and after COVID, it's delightful to see a decent film and a great voice along with it. I gave this recording a 5 star. Today most people just do not have to the time to listen to beautiful things anymore.

The Voice of Voices
I just got this today and have only listened to about 15 songs but it is great. The reviewer who only gave it 2 stars because "Because" was not on the CD: did you try Disc 3 Track16, because mine has "Because" right there. I grew up listening to Mario Lanza (ironically, it was my Armenian mother and not my Italian father who had his records) and am now a senior and I love him even more than I did then. Lately, I have been watching many documentaries about Mario on the computer and am just in awe of his voice and his larger than life persona. I could live another 50 years and never hear another voice as good as his.Not all of my favorites are included but that's okay, I have other Cd's or I can access them online.

Great collection!
Mario Lanza is most likely the most passionate and powerful tenor that ever lived. This 3 CD collection is a real value. If you are moved by love songs witness the best in this collection. I would encourage anyone who does not know or who has forgotten this music to hear this. Once you have heard the best it will be hard to settle for less.

What A Voice
I remember some of these songs from my childhood but I didn't realize that I knew them until I heard them again. I'm 2nd generation Italian and my father was a big Mario Lanza fan. The memories they brought to mind are priceless. What a voice, incredible. The recordings on these CD are high quality and sound excellent played through Bose 301 speakers. There a great addition to any music collection at a reasonable price.
