Wont drag on slippery fabrics, marks nicely
I like this chalk because it is soft and marks soft, slippery fabrics easily without dragging. This chalk is soft and can break easier than a chalk that has wax in it which isn't a lack of quality but simply the fact that this is a thin slice of chalk. It is easy to “ sharpen” and get a fine edge on for thin lines with a small knife, pen knife or even scissors. Depending on the fabric some colors may not come off. But i have experienced this with other chalks and marking pens as well. Test on a scrap just to make sure. The package was a cardboard box; the plastic container the chalk was in had one layer of bubble wrap around it and my mail carrier doesn’ t know what “ Fragile” means. Every single one of the chalk pieces was intact, not one was broken. Bought this chalk before and will buy it again.

Perfect for my needs.
Before I bought this I read over the reviews. One of the biggest complaints I read was that they are too thin. I WANT mine thin, I WANT thin crisp lines that I just can't get from the thick bulky tailors chalk sold by joanns. This was exactly what I was looking for. Will they hold up to a drop to a floor? I don't know but I won't find out either. All my usage is pattern tracing on a table not clothes marking for alterations. The chances of mine hitting on the floor are slim to none.I love having four color choices instead of two. They can be hard to take out of the case once they have been used some, but it comes with a case! The two I got and paid so much more for from Joanns did not come with a case at all and this one comes with a case. Yes the rubberbands have to be used to keep it closed but I see that as a small price to pay to have a hard protective case for my tailors chalk.I have seen someone else complain that they couldn't get the chalk removed, I have not had this problem but I also always do my markings on the wrong side of the fabric just incase. This was taught to me by my mom, her mom before her and her mom before her who was a seamstress. Different fabrics have different processes for production which is why you are supposed to spot test before using any type of marking tools because some times they have a chemical on them that what ever you are using to mark will stick to permanently. That is also why it is suggested that you prewash your fabrics before cutting and marking, it also helps so that the fabric is preshrunk before you sew. ;)There is nothing special or fancy about this tailors chalk, it is exactly what it claims to be, perfect for the thin lines and easy marking that I associate with a good tailors chalk. When I run out I will buy these again.

Nice sewing aid.
They arrived intact which surprised me because the packaging wasn’t great. I like the chalk better than the waxy markers because the lines can be brushed off whereas the wax ones can be difficult to remove. This tailor’s chalk is sharp and smooth but are a little crumbly. I use a light touch but they fall apart on their own and the little pieces are not useable. The choice of different colors is great because they show up on dark, light or multicolored fabric. I have no complaints.

Great chalk!
I love this chalk. I was little worried to order this it after reading some of the reviews but it was such a great value I had to try it. It was package very well and none of the chalk arrived damaged. Even if a couple did arrive damage it would be ok by me. Using one of the pieces of chalk it broke into 2 pieces. I still able to use the pieces so not a problem at all. I won’t have to order again anytime soon because there is so much chalk in the container but when I do I’ll order it again from this vendor. Thanks so much for the care you obviously take shipping your product!

Yikes.
Ok, pros: wipes off easily, convenient holder, fast shipping.Cons: so very thin!Chalk is plaster of Paris which costs maybe .10 for the entire stack and the holder certainly is akin to Dollar Tree quality which makes this way more expensive than it should be.I have never gotten tailor's chalk this thin before. While that's good for super thin lines, it came broken which is really inconvenient when trying to get out of the ridged packaging. Of course broken chalk still writes but why shouldn't what we pay for come whole? Not to mention, broken pieces are harder to hold.I like the concept of the holder. Had the product been thicker and the holder slots wider, this would be an exceptional value, but it's not. I mean, it's ok. But there are better on the market, even on Amazon. While I will use this as I now have it, I will not re-purchase. The note was a nice touch and I appreciated it, but it's probably one of the very few reasons this isn't going back.

Excellent! Pigmented but easily removable. Good company.
Shipped fast and packaging is great - it arrived un-broken in a cool storage package. Chalk is a great shape, sturdy, pigmented enough to make an easy to see impact, and texture is smooth throughout so it doesn't ever get chunky or jagged (and therefore doesn't snag on delicate fabrics). Yet it's still "chalky" enough. It lasts long enough to move your fabric around a lot for an extended period of time, yet it is extremely removable! Just brush it away or dab with water and it's gone. Other "chalks" are more crayon-like or waxy, these are CHALKY. Works great on synthetic fibers for sure! I use it to mark polyester UPF shirts for sublimation. Also, the hand written sentiment just made me happier about my purchase more than I can say.Highly recommend!

Cheap gets you cheap....
And it was really not that cheap.First, the box doesn’t latch so the chalk falls out of the box. Second, the chalk is so thin that it breaks just by looking at it.Not worth your money. Buy the Canadian version. That is a true tailor’s chalk.
