BLACK+DECKER LBX1540 40V 1.5 Ah MAX Lithium Ion Battery

Exact replacement for original battery, works great so far, I have had the battery for a few months now and used it for a small chain saw. Item arrived safe and on time A+

Bought extra so I now have 2 for my new blower.... charged easily and work just fine so far.

The battery was brand new sealed. It’s manufacturing date stamp is 2021 (this is 2024). It works fine so far. It holds its full charge. I think it took about 2-3 hrs to fully recharge. The battery that came with our 2023 Black & Decker hedge trimmer worked as well. But started to lose its capacity, but not by much, after one summer season of use. We could get 3/4 of the top and sides trimmed. This battery was bought to be able to finish the job. So far we’ve only had to use this one battery. Next summer I expect this to lose it’s full capacity. Therefore, we’ll be able to use both batteries. This is a competitive price. It was shipped to home Prime quickly and well packed and was left safely hidden by the front door.

This 2.0Ah (80Wh) B&D 40V max battery model LBX2040 has worked fine for my string trimmer since I purchased the battery in 2019. Manufacturing year on the case is 2018. Yesterday it died while my husband was using it, and he couldn't get it off the string trimmer and left both out overnight. Today I got the battery off no problem, but it was hot on one side and so was the string trimmer handle. I was hoping it was just from being in the sun, and it may have been, but even after allowing some hours for it to cool down, it goes straight to fast-red blink on both of my fast chargers. On the slow charger that came with the string trimmer, it flashes green for a moment, but then goes to fast red blinking. A half an hour later as I'm composing this, the green period is now slightly longer than before and one of the fast chargers briefly flashed green as well, so I'm hoping it just needs to cool longer. I will update if I resurrect it by just waiting. The 72Wh LBXR2036 (also 40V max) that came with the string trimmer, manufactured in 2014, is still going strong. The 60Wh, 1.5Ah LBX1540 was manufactured in 2021 and is also still working. I tried an aftermarket 3.0Ah model and it was always a bit flaky with the chargers and died within 6 months. So, 3x the price but 8x the longevity means B&D for the win here.

Any rechargeable battery needs to be stored inside your house. NOT IN GARAGE!! I use this 4 times a year on hedge trimmer.Don’t over charge. It’s best to ( exercise ) any rechargeable battery!! Don’t leave it sitting all winter, hook it up to a tool and run some then you can recharge it some more. But it’s important run it down some. Your batteries were last much longer. UPDATE battery will no longer accept a full charge, now I get only 2 lights on end of battery as of Summer of 2024. I may try a knock off battery with good reviews when this gets really bad!!

I have bought numerous off brand 40v batteries for Black n Decker. They only last a year or two before they no longer can hold a charge long. Yes the OEM are expensive but I can usually get a good 5 years out of the OEM.

The local home improvement store only offered a battery for the Black & Decker 20V trimmer, rather than a replacement battery for my 40V trimmer. It’s the original Black & Decker 40V battery, brand-new and in an unopened package. It charges quickly and lasts 1-2 hours on a single charge.
