Indispensable for any jazz musician! Clear, very legible print, contains so many standard tunes that it’s hard to name one that’s not in there I bought the Bb version, and it sure makes things easier for sax and clarinet! One tip: the binding is a little tight, making the pages tricky to turn. I took it to an office supply store and had them divide it into 2 smaller books. Very much worth the $10 they charged me to do it!

I have been a trumpet, cornet, and fluglehorn player for decades. A good music collection is a good thing to have, CRITICAL, actually, if you play professionally. It never fails when you're playing a gig to have someone 30 years older than you are (or 20 years younger than you are), that will work their way up to the band stand and ask you to play something you never heard of. If you have a good selection of 'Fake Books' or 'REAL Books', you might be able to find the requested tune on your next break and come back and 'Fake it'. There is a hidden advantage to having Real Books too. Some of the stuff 'you never heard before' will turn out to be pretty good stuff. I've been around long enough to know that great music comes from ANY era and much of it NEVER goes out of style. Some of the young folks out there would be shocked to know how much 'popular music' is actually centuries old classical music put to words. A collection of REAL BOOKS will put you in touch with music from the 20's to the present. Can a musician own too much sheet music?

Hundreds and hundreds of songs! A must have. Wish the pages were laminated or at least the cover and back were slick instead of thick paper. Don’t spill any drinks or get caught in the rain and it’ll be fine :)

It's the Real Book! nough said...

This is the second copy I got for our son whose first book is in Austin while he and his new trumpet are in Barcelona. He uses it frequently and only has good things to say about it.

Must-Have volumes 1-3 at least and I'm old-school. I like paper, I can't bring myself to trust a tablet at a gig, yet.

The book arrived in perfect condition and delivery was speedy. In time for some Christmas jazz standards on the tenor!

Just as described, printed beautifully, every note is clearly readable. Though there are a lot of songs in there I never heard of, that's probaly my fault. To get all the songs I like i have to get the other books, that's clever of them.

Suono jazz amatorialmente e questo libro mi sta aiutando molto sia per la lettura a prima vista che per l'analisi dei vari standard che il libro propone. Ci sono oltre 400 pagine di standard con cui potersi divertire e sbizzarrire, lo consiglio!
