CWR-1 Transitions Pinlock Ready Motorcycle Helmet Face Shield

Before buying this, I read tons of reviews that gave conflicting stories. But the truth is, this face shield surpasses anything else I've worn or used. It is equivalent to wearing sunglasses under your helmet or using a drop down sun shield as seen in scorpion Exo helmets. For reference I wear Oakley polarized grey lenses in sunglasses, and the tint is almost identical at full dark on this shield. Now to be fair, this shield does NOT get as dark as shoei's darkest tinted visor, but it goes darker than the medium dark tint they have. It works very well with direct sunlight, and reduces glare which is the real issue with riding in the sun with no shades. It also keeps visibility at a maximum since sunglasses tend to limit visibility inside your helmet. I wouldn't recommend staring directly into the sun though, but no sunglasses manufacturer would tell you to do that either. This was an amazing investment in my opinion, and I'd absolutely recommend it to anybody looking for a tinted visor. I've attached a picture which shows the photochromic visor at about 80% activation compared to the original clear visor.

I had my doubts. Plus the price isn't insignificant. But, this works great. Feels high quality. You get what you pay for. Gets dark fast. Varies how dark depending on how bright it is outside. In full sun, this gets completely dark, can't see my face in the mirrors. At night, nice and clear. Doesn't fog up once the pin lock anti fog part is installed. Too bad my glasses still fog up... Overall, I wish this was less expensive, since it's a shield and will eventually get scratched or a rock chip, and will need to be replaced, but I am happy with the product.

I was concerned by some of the reviews when I ordered this. After several months, however, I am still completely satisfied. Sometimes I go out before the sun has risen, and I need a clear shield. After the sun comes up, I used to have to stop and change shields, or deal with the bright sun. Other times, I remain out after the sun goes down and I need to stop and change from smoked to clear. No longer! Although it is an expensive shield, I believe it is worth not having to worry about reduced visibility and stops to change shields. Also, my shield still functions fine. Instructions warn not to store it where there are temperature extremes, and I keep my helmet inside my house. For those who say that it stopped darkening, I suggest that it was not stored properly. Mine gets quite dark, and clear again without problem. The only "issue" I can mention is that it begins to darken when there is very little light. I have not found this to be a problem, but if you view the lens when the helmet is not being worn, it is noticeable. Still, not enough of an issue to deduct a full star. So far, no scratches. I only use a soft cloth to clean my visor, and I never wipe it when dry. Windex is not recommended. I use plain water, and if bug splats are bad, I put a wet paper towel on the visor for a couple of minutes to soften them before trying to clean the visor. Simple practices like this will greatly extend the life of any visor. Highly recommended!

Let me just say that I should have purchased this a long time ago. I hate wearing sunglasses inside my helmet b/c they generally make me sweat or they are just uncomfortable not to mention finding somewhere to put them when it gets dark. I don't like riding with a lot of gear or luggage. I generally stuff what I need in my many jacket pockets and hit the road. I actually had the Wiley X photochromic riding glasses but they didn't get nearly as dark as this shield does. This shield turns super fast as soon as you are in the sun, actually faster than any transition glasses I own. They do take a bit to lighten back up but it never just gets dark quick so that should never be a problem. I absolutely love this and would spend this type of money again and again for the quality of the shield.

Pros: -Fast opacity change. It seems to be mostly darkened in the walk through the parking lot from my office to my bike, and doesn't take much longer to lighten up once out of the sun. -Impact resistant. I took a couple of pebbles right in the face on a ride through the mountains in SoCal, and the only thing left behind was the little bit of loose dirt that brushed off. Cons: -Price. This is nearly triple the price of a standard shield for a Shoei. -Not very dark. I have sunglasses that are much darker than this shield even when it has fully darkened, and the whole point of this is to limit what I need to carry with me when riding and eliminate wearing glasses under my helmet (very uncomfortable to me). It's decent, but I'm not sure if I'd ever buy another one.

This visor is a must for me. I have bought cheaper off brand ones and they’re terrible. They might dim the light coming through a bit but not the uv and it feels like the sun is still heating ya face. Go with the Shoei visor and spend the extra money. 100% worth it!

I almost didn’t buy this due to the price but I decided to just go for it instead of getting a smoked visor as I normally would. I’m surprised how quickly it changes shades and has never been too dark. Not only is it always the perfect shade but it is crystal clear as well. I’ll never have another helmet without a transition visor after this.

Ich war zunächst am Überlegen, ob der Preis gerechtfertigt ist. Aber nach dem ausprobieren, kann ich nur JA! sagen. Beim fahren von unterschiedlichen Wetterverhältnissen, Sonne, Wolken und auch Nacht funktioniert das Visier super. Es wird übergangslos dunkel und hell. Man merkt den Übergang nicht. Jedoch muss ich sagen, es dauert länger bis das Visier wieder hell ist, als es dunkel wird. Zudem ist es zwar von aussen Tiefschwarz doch von Innen hat es nicht den selben Blendschutz wie ein "normales Tiefschwarzesvisier". Da ich im allgemeinen viel unterwegs bin und das auch nachts, hat es sich für mich sehr angeboten dieses Visier zu bestellen, da man sich das lästige umbauen und den Transport eines 2. Visiers spart. Ich kann den Artikel echt nur empfehlen!

Ho sempre avuto problemi di vista, che si acuiscono con condizioni particolari di luce, motivo per il quale dovevo girare in moto con la visiera chiara e gli occhiali da sole di giorno e quelli da vista la sera, oppure con la visiera scura e quelli da vista, con l'obbligo di tenerla aperta se per caso entravo in galleria o tornavo tardi la sera. Con questa visiera ho risolto tutti i problemi! Unica accortezza, essendo in taglia unica per tutte le taglie di calotta, ci vuole un po' di manualità per adattarla perfettamente.

Après six mois d utilisation , honnêtement je suis très content de mon achat. La visière est super , aucune gêne sous un grand soleil , elle s assombri vraiment en quelques secondes et la visibilité est excellente . Je ne dirai pas qu elle devient complètement noire mais suivant l angle ou on la regarde elle est plutôt rouge sombre cela dépend , quoiqu il en soit elle est très efficace . Dans les tunnels je n ai jamais été gêné. La nuit où par temps couvert / pluie , elle est claire , il y a peut être quelques reflets indésirables avec les phares des voitures mais pour m’en servir régulièrement je n ai jamais eu envie de la changer, cela n empêche pas de voir correctement la route . Vraiment très satisfait !

Impresionante calidad.entregado en tiempo y bien embalado.este tipo de tecnologia solo tiene un pero el componente activo que hace oscurecer,se degrada con el tiempo,solucion para que dure mas.meter el casco en su funda cuando no se use y asi el componente se relaja al no recibir radiación solar.por lo demás ok

Having used a flip helmet with extra internal drop down dark visor, I went back to the simplicity of a having a quality full face helmet. I never liked using the dark drop visor while the main visor was closed. This photocrhromatic visor is a perfect addition to a brilliant helmet. It adapts to the required tint fast enough but so far hasn't got too dark to see through. My helmet is white with a simple graphic colour scheme, and the dark visor suits it really well. All in all very happy, fast delivery and the price was better than anywhere else. Highly recommended.
