This book has excellent basic information for those who, like myself, are new to smartphones. There's a lot to learn on these little dingos, and if you don't want to be last in the sheepdip, then you need something to get you shorn and pointed in the right direction. Talking to myself here: the basic Android stuff is roughly the same for all Android models; as a rule, it's only in the more advanced details that you'll find variation.

Covers the basic of setting up your smart phone and some of the more common features and functions of most phones . If you want to know more about your particular phone I would either suggest doing some in depth online research or finding a book about your phone.

I bought this for a pensioner who'd never owned a smartphone before. I had a quick look through the pages before I handed the book over and it didn't seem to be basic enough. Although the book was classed as second hand it was in 'as new' condition. I was very impressed by this.

I have had a smartphone for years but I did not know how to work it. This book is easy to read and full of useful tips.

Great book , perfect for a technophobe like myself. Well written easy to understand.

I bought this for my brother-in-law who has no knowledge or experience of the internet or smart phones and simply wanted to use his new Android phone to send text messages. He is elderly but is mentally unimpaired, and tells me he found the book useless. He still can't operate his new 'phone, and says the two pages devoted to texts in this whole book rely on a knowledge of internet requirements and don't explain why his 'phone won't let him send texts. A waste of money.

As someone new to smartphones I found this book very helpful.

I thought this book would be the bees knee's But I can function must of the activity and never used an android system and it is not written well for people who do not understand computer eg Android functioning mobile/computes.

First of all, the physical book is too big. The font is big and the photos are gigantic. And there's not much in there. Take the chapter on security, for example (likely the most important chapter in any book on cell phones). There's only 62 SENTENCES in the entire chapter. I have books on my shelves that have 62 PAGES in a chapter. And zero mention of VPN...zero. I was also hoping for something on the folder system within my phone, which I find confusing. But there's nothing.

This is so much easier to use than the instruction manual. If you are putting off getting a smartphone because you think they are difficult to learn and use, then you need to read this book.

Easy to understand,and use.

I wanted to use this book to teach a couple of people how to use their Android phones. Colorful illustrations would help although I know that would have increased the cost greatly. As I read through it to prepare for using it, I noticed that some portions were hard for me to understand and I skipped over those as well as some instructions that I felt the average user would probably not need. I am going to attempt to use it, but I don't feel confident with some of the content. It is not a bad reference guide as a whole though.

Great book, full of tips and instructions.
