This collar is an extra for my wireless containment system. This works perfectly for my active dog. He is able to move around freely without being able to run off and get lost. Very easy to setup and use. You can buy replacement batteries as needed. Ours usually lasts around a month but that is with 24/7 usage. We have multiple dogs on this system with no issues. The collar is adjustable to whatever size you need, and it is very durable material.

My dog's previous collar required replacement after one of the contact posts was lost. Given the age of the original unit, I opted for a new replacement while retaining the old one as a spare. The new collar is an exact match for the previous model. The construction of both the collar strap and the receiver unit appears consistent with the original, leading me to expect a comparable or extended service life. To proactively ensure longevity, I intend to perform routine checks to confirm that the contact posts remain securely fastened to the receiver unit. Pairing the new collar with the wireless transmitter was a straightforward process. Following a successful pairing, a perimeter test of the wireless boundary confirmed that the collar functions precisely as anticipated.

I had 2 of these collars "go bad" on me. I was about to order a 3rd, but something kept nagging at me to call PetSafe after reading they had a replacement option after the warranty was expired. I SHOULD HAVE CALLED FOR SUPPORT after the first one! :) The PetSafe agent had me bend the metal battery tab with the bump on it up (be careful not to break it!) & both collars worked perfectly again. I don't know why I didn't think to try that. Also, the agent was very pleasant, spoke clear English, & my hold time was just a couple minutes. Thank you PetSafe for making great products & having great support. Yes, there are a couple downfalls to this product, but they ALL beat putting in a wired fence for me since I would have to go under an asphalt. The downfalls I have encountered are my two dogs do get out on occasion & some days their collars beep once randomly & somewhat frequently when they are laying around the house (other days, we never hear a beep). When they get out (which is very rare - maybe 5 times in 5-10 years), I don't know if it is a fluctuation in the wireless signal, if they just don't care (because they are going after stray cats in an abandoned building next to us...I would imagine that is too tempting & exciting to care about the shock sometimes, ha!), or both. The beep inside scares them, so I feel bad for that, but it doesn't appear to shock, which it shouldn't be by the way it is designed. PetSafe recommends they don't wear the collars inside, but it is a hassle to take them on & off, especially during the summer when we are in & out so much. Also, outside, it seems like sometimes they don't hear the beep if they are barking non-stop & loudly because suddenly they'll yelp & run back towards the house, but again, they may just be ignoring it. Even considering all of this, I love this system and recommend it highly. I would buy it again.

Very effective keeps my crazy cattle dog close to home.

I've been using these for over 20 years. Very good product. I prefer it over a buried wire, because it doesn't punish the dog for coming home if they do cross the border. The collars are a little light duty, but suffice. If you want to install the receiver on another collar, mark the holes using the original, sharpen the inside of an empty 9mm case or suitable tubing, and chuck it in a drill. Makes perfect holes. My unit shut down, and I thought it was toast, so ordered a new one, it turned out to just be the power supply. I replaced it, and all's well. I installed the 2nd unit in another location in my house to increase the area.

This is my third replacement collar. Truly love the whole system, my dogs feel safe and I feel safe knowing they are staying in their boundary.

Works great. The original collar fell off in the Fall. We didn't worry too much in the winter because he stayed pretty close to the house because it was warmer there. Spring came and the dog started running again. We live off the highway. Got the replacement collar. The dog remembered what it was and didn't want to leave the front step. Took him about a week to follow us in the yard to remember his boundaries. People would tell us why would you give him a shock collar? It is so cruel. It's less cruel than him getting hit by a transport truck and we know he is safe playing in the yard.

This collar is a spare, and I am now free to keep one at home and travel with the other. It is large, comfortable for my dog, and I have begun to remove it when she comes inside from playing. It seems easy to clean, and is visible at a distance. Would not want to be without this system. Hope they make these collars for a smaller type dog in the future, as my friends are envious of this but their little mutts run away constantly. This is a wonderful control and Amazon was speedy in processing my order. Thanks to PetSafe.

The collar is pretty cheap and can be replaced if you buy a good one and just use an electric soldering iron to melt two holes in it to mount the receiver. The receiver is tough and even stands up to a dog chewing on it for a short time. It is also waterproof which is a good reason not to get the rechargeable one. Batteries are not cheap but they each last about 3 months and are worth wayyyyyyyy less than your best friend.
