Easy MSI: A basic guide to Windows Installer Paperback – November 28, 2013

This is a great resource but i feel like there is a bit of price gouging at $75. Also this book's font size is way too small!!! Perhaps they wanted it to be more portable but it would be much easy to read with larger lettering! Other than that, the books has been an invaluable help with my MSI project at work and a great help understanding basic function of the MSI database tables. There really isn't a lot of MSI books to choose from so I'm grateful for this resource.

It's short, but very useful book. Company I work for switched from InstallScript to MSI (which was stupid idea, due lack of flexibility) and I struggled since then, because information about MSI technology either limited or difficult to understand. After I bought this book, I found many useful solutions I would love to have during days I spent to solve issues I faced. This book uncover many grey spots MSI technology has. So, I would recommend this book.

Fischer's book has some good material and represents a valuable, fresh perspective to Windows Installer technology. I learned some useful tidbits that were missing in Phil Wilson's classic book on the subject. Fischer's book is especially good if you want to know more about the data schema that underlies the MSI file. However (and this is a big drawback for me) the book lacks an index! Any book on Windows Installer technology earns much of its value as a reference guide to this complex subject. Thus an index is practically indispensable.Jim Black

If you ever need to deal with msi but do not know where to start, then this book is for you.It consolidates much of the msi technology and gives a complete tour of how to create a msi using free tools. The same principles can be applied if you are using Installshield.

This is one of the nice book i come across as a learner of new technology. Robin has done very nice work by explaining the concept that is really hard to understand.As a learner of MS technologies, I recommend this book for anybody who want to learn MSI technology without any previous knowledge on Microsoft technologies.And anybody who is working with MSI, this is your pocket dictionaryThanks for the nice book and looking forward for your next one.Regards,Selvakumar Periasamy
