An Overcomers Testimony, Awesome!
This book portrayed the true heart and soul and spirit of Ebony Rose. She could have completely portrayed a very vengeful, bitter and angry tone towards Pastor Stephens but she didn’t. This shows that Ebony truly overcame and walked in the freedom, in healing and the power of forgiveness. Awesome! This autobiography reminded me of David and Uriah in the bible. David murdered someone who loved, respected and was willing to die in war for him. David committed this act simply because he wanted something that he could not have, Uriah’s wife.Anybody who says Ebony was wrong for writing this the autobiography and her family for publishing this book, should put themselves in Uriah’s family shoes. If you were a sister, brother, mother, father, or relative of Uriah and you were told your loved one was murdered in the act of war. Only to find out later, that the “person” who had him murdered was the person your family followed, believed in, respect, was your Pastor for over 10 years!! What would do? Would you believe that David, who had the spirit of God upon him to sing demons out of you, would you believe he was the person who “murdered” Uriah? Would you think it was a lie? It’s unbelievable but David did kill Uriah! …it’s no different with Ebony in this unspeakable act of violating or “murdering” an innocent soul for Pastor Stephens own pleasures. This is a hard “truth” to accept, let alone forgive but Ebony found freedom and forgiveness. It’s very sad that a beautiful spirit and gift that Ebony had was cut so short. I was there in the beginning when things started to “unfold.” It was tragic , I felt helpless. I admired Ebony , she was my sister in Christ and I miss her. In the book Ebony said she would find her boldness (her voice) when she sang. She wrote and sang a song called “Let The Light From The Lighthouse, Shine On Me.” If you had a heavy heart or “wrestling” with something, you were free by the time she was done singing. She sang the spirit of God into the church and tear jumped into your eyes and your mind and your spirit was set free! The girl could “sang” not sing, but “sang.” She had a beautiful and powerful gift from God. You could’ve put Ebony in the likes of Shirley Murdock, Yolanda Adams, and so on.If you read the book, read it with an open mind and not a defensive spirit. The truth hurts and it’s hard to accept but it will set you free. Who knows if Pastor Stephens has molested other women, prayerfully this will book will help them gain the courage they need and overcome their fears and speak out. Just like God held David accountable for his deplorable act God will also hold Pastor Stephen’s accountable as well. If we take anything from this book, we should take the power of forgiveness! It changed Ebony’s life, she was no longer tormented and she was able to write a book where you can feel her healing and freedom while you’re reading her book! It’s Beautiful, and it’s the ultimate overcomers testimony. -Ebony’s best friend “Denise.”

Eye opening and heartfet.
If there were an option for 10 stars, I would have given it 10 starts. Ebony did such a good job of displaying God's love for us, His children. She could have elected to write this book with all kind of destructive content. Instead, she wrote it from a place of forgiveness. Not only to those who abused and mistreated her but forgiveness to herself, as she took responsibility for the role that she played. Now, if that doesn't tell you that she really wants people to be free, healed and delivered, then I don't know what will.It is my hope that others will read this book and realize that the liberty that the Bible speaks of, is for you, if you have been abused. I can only speak on my opinion of the black church and family because that is all that have attended and I am black. We seem to cover up those who abuse others and molest in our families and churches. For some reason, we won't expose them. It's time for that to end. It's time for frank and open discussion about what is ok and what isn't. It starts with talking to our children and letting them know to speak up and say what needs to be said.I was also a member of "COM" for a very long time. Her accounts were so accurate that it took me right back there, mentally. It brought back so many memories. Tears were flowing as I read this book. So many emotions came back to surface. As a former member, I can say that the Pastor and co-Pastor taught me a lot that I will keep with me forever. They were very instrumental in my growth and development as a Christian. I don't harbor any ill-will toward them but I do with that the Pastor would be honest and admit that he is a man and capable of giving in to weakness, making bad decisions and that he indeed has. I would have so much more respect for him if he did. He has the hearts, minds and wills of so many people at his fingertips and they will (as you can see) do what he says. Having that much power is dangerous. However, he has it. I pray that he does what is right because God is the ultimate judge, He sees all and He knows all.Thank you, to the family of the author. I believe that so many can be helped from Ebony's story. Her suffering was not and is not in vain. God can use what's left and He will.

This book is powerful, eloquent and a must read. Ebony poignantly placed a light on two topics: sexual abuse and spiritual abuse and how the two intertwined in this case. While I have personally never incurred sexual abuse, I could feel her raw emotions and cannot fathom what it is like to suffer through that at the hands of those you trust. On the other hand, her spot on description of spiritual abuse spoke volumes to me. I was also a member of this church for 7 years and witnessed the controlling spirits, twisted scripture, leader worship, cliques and greed. I too struggled in my decision to leave and felt the affects of spiritual abuse for a long time. But there is hope and you can escape. Ebony brilliantly shows that God can bring you through anything and will do so if you trust Him. Current members of "COM", get out. Ebony's boldness to write this and her family's boldness to publish is opening a door for you. We on the outside have been praying. For anyone else who finds themselves in a similar situation, there is yet hope and I pray this book gives you the courage to stand up for yourself and say no more. Thank you Ebony for your courage, it will change lives.
