This book was riviting. I couldnt put it down and the emotions I felt as I read it were profound. What an incredible author. I recommend it highly.

The Bible as a novel. So good.
I had read this book and really enjoyed it. We have a new Pastor in our Living Hope Church and I bought it for him for Pastor Appreciation Month. I know he will enjoy it too.

Great read for all those looking for Bible stories

This book is wonderful. Wangerin does a fantastic job of the Old Testament here (although he does take a few liberties with what Hebrews would have looked like - red hair? probably not). This is very worth your time and money.

This book is written from the perspective of the characters in the Bible and how they might have felt. This is not a substitute for the Bible by any means. The stories need to be known from a proper translation. What it does do, however, is make you look at the stories from different angles and makes you begin to think about how you might have reacted had you been there. I bought it as an occasional help in sermon preparation.

This is not Scripture and cannot replace your Bible. In saying that and remembering that enjoy the story from an enjoyable read. It is very well written and captivating to see Biblical characters and events from another's perspective. Love it.
