just awesome!
First of all, I have to say that before I bought this chess set, I had been quite skeptical. On the one hand I expected some fragile chess pieces, but the beauty of the chessmen convinced me of buying this product.(By the way, I'm German, so I hope my English isn't too bad)After getting my 'Harry Potter Chess Set' and after having already played a lot with it... I can just say that it's awesome!!!1. The material:The plastic isn't just hard. It's mixed with a flexible plastic, thus the chess pieces are very stable and the thinner parts, such as the crosier of the bishop, are flexible. So the chess pieces constist of a really durable material, a material that is simultaneously high quality... because it feels just right. And although the figures are hollow, they are perfectly balanced.2. Appearance:The chess pieces are precise detail crafted... I haven't found any processing erros, the chessmen look just perfect. In fact all chess pieces have this marble style :)The chessboard is big - big enough to play and big enough so that the chess pieces don't look too big, In fact it's appearance is kind of perfect too... it has this marble effect (although it's just a woody board)3. Fun?Yes, incredible fun! I have high respect of sacrificing my own awesome looking pawns... and playing this chess is just like being in the middle ages... the whole game get's a deeper meaning than just playing with some figures. To sum it up, this is a very beautiful and durable chess set that makes a lot of fun!I highly recommend it.Greetings from Berlin :)

Super cheap quality
Stupid little plastic pieces, the board folds multiple times so it has lines all over it. I was expecting better quality for a $60.00 game. It is not worth close to that-maybe $12 like the price tag on the box. I was expecting a nice collectable item I could set out for decor but this set screams cheap toy. Don't waste your money.

Wizard Chess!
This set is fantastic. The pieces look just like the movie! The knights are a little big for maneuvering around the board, but that's a minor flaw. The board is cardboard and folds up to fit in the box, so you do see the crease while you're playing. I haven't had any pieces break, and the price is just right.

Looks great on coffee table-great for kids & adults-good quality pieces-will look to replace board with something more permanent
My 9 year old got this for her birthday. Encourages even the youngest of kids to learn chess. She read all the directions and had it figured out in no time. The figures were slightly bendy-you can tell they won't snap with mild mannered children. The board is a bit cheap-might make our own or look for a new one. The box it comes in is just light cardboard so don't count on the game being replaced in the box too many times without it falling apart. I had another small wooden dovetailed box in the house and thought about storing it in there. The only problem-when you don't see the game, you don't play the game! It is pretty and I now leave it out on our coffee table and everyone stays interested in the game.

Lightweight but detailed
My son is seven and we got him this for Christmas. He loves Harry Potter and chess. The set is really "cool" because the figures look a lot like those in the movie. The problem is they are very lightweight. I watched my husband and son play that morning and the pieces kept tipping over. After one tips over, it takes out others in it's path, much like the movie. It was frustrating to watch. I would probably have been ok with it if the set was a little less expensive to reflect he lower quality. So, fun for a novelty gift.

Grandson loves it!
We bought this for my grandson for Christmas and he loves it. The pieces are sturdy and I don't think they will break easily when dropped. The board folds up into four squares and is not the most sturdy, but we purchased for the pieces as we have a marble board.Price was a little steep but we were in London a month ago and Harry Potter chess sets sell for over $200. With this in mind, this is a deal! I would buy it again.

Not real happy with this.....
O.K. it's chess - The pieces should have been molded of a heavier plastic, with a base on them - they are hollow. The box is completely cheesy, Really cheap and flimsy - It should have a heavier stock cardboard with a molded insert at the very least to store the game. The board is also a bit too small for the size of the pieces.I like the look of the pieces, but they should be heavier. This game should have been designed to be sold as a real keeper - it was sold like a destined-for-the-trash toy.

Very cheap movie swag chess set
I was excited to give this chess set to my son for Christmas. When we opened it up to play however, I was very disappointed. The pieces are all very lightweight, feel cheap, and look cheap. The board is a flimsy fold out piece of cardboard. Because it unfolds in 4 sections, the last section of board does not sit flat. The lightweight pieces slide down this final quarter of the board, as it is on a slight incline. On top of that the pieces are really quite big, and the board is very small. Its difficult to see the board and visualize your moves, as well as actually moving the pieces without knocking over others around it. Overall the amount I paid for this I would simply spend on a normal chess set instead of a movie branded set. You're paying for the pieces to look like the ones from the movies, and nothing more. My advice is to look elsewhere.
