This pin vise is a great tool for anyone in the scale modeling or model railroading hobby. It's perfect for all the fine detail work that the hobby demands. I use it constantly for drilling out gun barrels, creating holes for grab irons and railings on locomotives, and for running small wires for lighting. The assortment of tiny drill bits that comes with it is fantastic and covers pretty much every small size you could possibly need. The hand drill itself is comfortable to use. The top spins freely in your palm, which makes the drilling motion smooth and easy. Important word of caution: the small drill bits are extremely fragile. This is not a defect; it's just the nature of bits this tiny. You cannot apply a lot of pressure. You have to be patient, use a light touch, and let the sharpness of the bit do the work. If you try to force it, the bit will snap. There a more expensive pin vises that has a higher quality drills, but I’ve broken those multiple times as well. For the price of this set though I can just buy a new one. This kit is an incredible value. For the price, you get a great pin vise and a good collection of bits. Highly recommended.

For limited use, these are pretty good. I just needed to drill 6 holes (very small holes) in very tough polycarbonate plastic. And they held up. Barely. But they did do the job I bought them for, and I used them on a substance I imagined would break them. Nice sizes, easy to use So 5 stars

This Pin Vise Hand Drill kit was purchased specifically for the 10 PCB mini drills. Every once in a while, some stubborn solder in a PCB through-hole via will require drilling out to clear it for a new component replacement. When solder wicking, solder vacuums both mechanical and electrical, and preheat hot plates fail to aid in removing solder from a through-hole via, these mini drills come in handy. Yes, the small drill bits are fragile. At my second tech job, the electrical engineer had better quality mini drill bits that also broke during major PCB rework. We went through a few mini drill bits that day. The pin vise hand drill is adequate and does the job. I have used better quality ones at my second tech job. The PCB mini drill storage case is okay and keeps the drill bits organized. It could be slightly better. For the price, kit is good, comes with several drill bits, and does the job. I will be purchasing one for small engine repair in the near future.

Decent quality for the cost. The actual drill is manual. The base spins loosely so you can rest the base in your palm while spinning the drilling end continuously. I've used these types of hand tools in the past and it does make it a lot easier and efficient. The tool is metal and we'll made. The attachments offer a wide variety. You get 3 separate bags with specific size drilling bits I didn't count how many. Then the specialty bits come in their own case. I'm not sure if it's recommended but since we own other bits, we may be able to use them with this tool if needed since the tip where the bits are inserted is adjustable to fit wider sized bits.

Out of the hundreds of bits I have I didn't have (naturally) a small enough size to drill the speaker crossover pcb for new Dayton audio grade capacitors that had larger leads. A really good selection of micro to small bits. Had exactly the size I needed. I started with a smaller size and then enlarged to the final fit. The pin vise was great for the bucks, worked well without issue and got the job done. Great value and selection for 10 bucks. I'd buy this set again in a minute.

Used for DIY PCB manufacturing. Getting those small holes that'll fit DIP packages are kind of rough. I personally found the set to be very useful, and the quality to be fairly well. I like the manual drill they provide, but for more than a few holes I found it easier to CAREFULLY use it in a power drill to make the holes. Works well, but be careful because these are very fragile.

I really liked the bit holder ... makes it easy to drill. The big problem is nothing is labeled. You are taking guesses on every drill bit and since they are all so small, good luck on finding the one size you need. Luckily I ordered other bits and they are lableled.
