Schrade, a respected US company with a quality product for reasonable cost...
I have carried a pocket knife my whole life, they always come in handy. I also loose them all the time. This time I decided to buy one that was a little larger and had a belt cast to keep it safe. So far so good. I have also owned all kinds of pocket knives over the years as well. Some very expensive gifts others not so expensive. The Schrade knife is an old company and makes a quality product at a fair price. The leather case is heavy gauge leather and should last longer then me. The knife has a solid feel in my hand and all the parts have a good tight fit. The locking mechanism is positive with no play or wiggle. This simulated bone covers look good and are durable. This is an excellent knife for the working man, handyman or woodman. It's solid, sharp and sturdy, best of all easy to find when you drop it in the grass...

This knife is a great beater/Buck 110 saver!! It's not as scary as the negative reveiws would have you believe.
This knife is a great beater Buck 110 saver & feels great in the hand. If you love the Buck 110 format or the old Schrade/Old Timer folding hunters.....you'd appreciate these. Are they the quality of old.....obviously not, they're made in China nowadays. I think you'll find a great user knife that costs around half of the Buck 110 w/adequate 7CR steel & acceptable quality. If you could only buy one knife like this, I recommend the Buck 110 or 112 for the better 420 HC w/great Buck heat treat, higher quality build & superior hollow grind/sharpness. Me, I'm saving my Buck knives for hunting/caping tasks & beating the snot out of my Chinese made Old Timers. Checkout the 6OT too....if you might prefer this w/only the top end nickel silver bolster & the plus of a lanyard hole! On the other hand the 60OTW w/desert iron wood handle scales is something you may want to display as it's beautiful.....& all these are very inexpensive!! Hope this helps! I love these nostalgic looking/feeling knives.

Value Knife
This is by no means the best knife out there, however for the price I really don't see how it can get any better. The knife is a Schrade Old Timer 70T. It has a beautiful classic design that's hard to find in a knife these days. It's weight is just right for it's size. Super solid construction. I was concerned the blade would be dull out of the box, however it passed the paper test before any sharpening. A few grinds on the sharpening stone made it as sharp as any knife out there. The lock is very solid with absolutely no blade play. The unlocking mechanism requires a bit of force to initiate, however I would by no means consider this a flaw. There are no screws, so anything becoming loose over time is out of the question. The handle feels really good. The sheath is made of leather that is probably not of the highest quality, however it is fully functional and a wonderful addition. I know some of you knife enthusiasts steer clear of knives made in China, but if you are looking for a medium sized EDC folding knife with a old fashioned feel, I encourage you to give this knife a shot. It definitely will not be a waste of money like many other knives sold in this price range.

Buck has nothing to worry about
I lost one of these years ago and finally replaced it. It didn’t take 5 minutes to see that Buck Knives has nothing to worry about. I bought this for the sole purpose of being a beater knife, and will save my Buck 110s for finer tasks. The brass bolsters are thinner, the lock back lever doesn’t sit flush with the spine, and will need to sharpen it. Otherwise I’m pleased with it for the money spent.Edit after 24 hours- This knife has grown on me after giving it a pretty thorough spa treatment. I washed it with Dawn detergent and WD40 until the pivot stopped bleeding black grime, rubbed it down with Brasso and a magic eraser, sharpened, and added a thumb stud. In order to open it one handed, I had to do many sessions of opening just prior to lockup, and closing it literally thousands of cycles to smooth out the pivot. It's now showing some mirror polish where the lock back meets the base of the blade, and is almost as smooth and easy as my Buck knives. It will always have shortcomings at this price point, but definitely appreciate it more than when it first arrived. I'll no longer consider it a beater, but will be used for the more demanding tasks. Plan to carry it along with my Buck 110, the same way I usually EDC two flashlights. Can recommend as a decent utility knife, but not as an heirloom. I'd pay more for a made in USA version. The leather sheath is good quality, but is still made to fit the original version made before Taylor bought out Schrade.Edit several days later- The inexpensive knife community has grown on me since obtaining this 7OT. This Old Timer is a better value than I first gave it credit for, and am now collecting other traditional knives made in China. The hobby in general would be unaffordable otherwise, and have bought a few more Schrade Old Timer’s in various patterns, since. I also artificially aged the nice belt sheath with hot water and leather conditioner. The perceived value has increased significantly since my initial purchase, and is now one of my favorites. Giving it 4 1/2 stars now.

Really good knife
This is a really good knife to have handy. It comes really sharp and is really sturdy. It comes with a nice good leather sheath with a belt loop so you can wear it on your side. It dose look used when you get it but other then that it’s a good knife 10/10
