I'm only writing a review here because I first purchased a similar (but much cheaper - $15) set of cutters which were virtually unusable on wire cable. I ordered this product after getting frustrated with the other cutters. Upon receiving the Knipex cutters, I was very pleased with their operation. They cut the cable cleanly in a single cut - as you would expect from such a tool. See image of 5/32 cable cut below. The moral here is you get what you pay for.

These work absolutely perfect for 1/8" multi-strand aircraft cable, carbon steel. I'm not a giant size guy, and they work without much effort single handed. They slice through the strands cleanly, you can feel it as they cut through, and because of that there's no fraying, crimping, or change in the diameter of the wire rope. It's cleaner than any other cut method I've used. Haven't tried it on stainless cable. I'm sure it'll cut it, just not sure how long they'll hold up to that. I would NOT try these for 1/4 cable, and I think they'd be tough to use for 3/16. I don't think that's a big deal though. FWIW, a crimp tool for sleeves for 1/8" cable is about 24" long, so this tool is tiny by comparison. I'm not sure what the crimp grove is on these, but think it's either for decorative, lightweight end stops, or maybe bowden cable - guessing.

Like other Knipex tools I've had, these are high-quality cutters. They give a nice clean cut for 1/8" steel cable railing (you really need this for some of the hardware used in a cable railing system). I didn't notice any wear after several dozen cuts - no small trick when cutting steel cable. If you have a DIY cable railing installation, do yourself a favor and spend a few extra bucks for these.

We had to cut a bunch of shipping locks off (wire rope through a lock) and these were so slick. Cut them nice and clean with minimal effort. I have smaller hands so I had to really choke up on them to get the jaws open wide enough but they were easy enough to close from that grip as well. Leaves a really nice clean cut and you can crimp ferrules with them too. I could have probably gotten the smaller size pliers but wanted to be on the safe side. Another great tool by Knipex.... though it just came in a bag. No other packaging.

Purchased this to help cut cable seals on my trailer doors when needed. Works like a charm. Way better then what ever receivers give to break the seals.

I really like these cutters. Cuts through small diameter cable like nothing. The only drawback that I found is that the handles open very wide thus making it difficult or awkward for people with smaller hands to use. I don't have that issue. Overall, a great tool at a very good price.

Everybody talks about knipex quality. I'm impressed. This cut 3/16" steel cable cleanly, and left it pretty round at the cut (not mashed), which made it a breeze in threading it through holes. I can't think of any other method of cutting steel cable where it wouldn't take longer and be more troublesome. A good buy, worth the price.

No te equivoques: con este alicante Knipex no vas a necesitar otro cortacables en tu vida.

La calidad del material y el nivel de fabricación se perciben excelentes desde el primer uso. Estas pinzas se sienten bien construidas, firmes y confiables. Well made, but don't have the leverage I was looking for to give an easy cut on 3mm stainless wire.
