Wonderful for use with microscopes AND telescopes!
I bought this camera for my microscope and have used it dozens of times. The software is free and easy to download (I have a Mac and it worked just fine). I spent quite a bit of time talking with AmScope's customer service before I bought it. The person I spoke to was very candid about the products they sell and told me that for the price I was willing to pay, this was the best camera. His words were, "It's affordable and decent." He was right. It is clear, adjusts to light sources automatically, and is more than enough for my needs as an elementary botany teacher. As a bonus, it also fits in the eyepiece of my telescope (it comes with two adapters to fit larger eyepieces)! You can use it to capture still images and short movies. It's the perfect starter camera for scientists, teachers, or anyone inclined to be nerdy!

Worked on microscope 🔬
This was a gift for my mother in law who has to work using microscope all day and she loved it. She can now hook this camera to her laptop and get a perfect image every time! The build quality is very good and it's very easy to use.

Does The Job
This is easy to set up and use. The picture quality is mediocre at best. It you're wanting beautiful photos, this probably isn't your best bet. If you're just wanting something to view things casually without needing to use the eyepieces, it works well for that. Plus, the price is right. It fits my Amscope with no need for adaptors.

Works well with some limitations.
Camera works well if not perfect, so i took one star. Improved chip sensitivity would be welcome as well as larger chip with better field of view. 1. Software is comprehensive, works well with the default settings, and has plenty of options for the advanced user. For the novice it could be overwhelming. 2. The field of view is considerably smaller then what is available with the naked eye at the eyepiece. While looking at active samples with pond water the protozoa dart around speedily, in and out of view. I could not correct for this with the software or the zoom function so i think it is a limitation of the camera chip and optics i have. 3. Shutter speed/exposure time is a bit slow for active samples, movement is blurred on the screen while viewing protozoa and while re-positioning the slide. 4. I was able to see bacteria using the camera. These were not visible at all using the naked eye, but were notable when using the camera. Too small for me to identify they were there and someone with more experience may have luck. 5. When looking at prepared slides the camera worked flawlessly and gave exceptional views of butterfly wings and some insect samples i was looking at.

I love this camera
First, let me give you some context, I am a fairly new amateur microcopist. I am not a professional. Additionally, my previous camera set up was a Nikon DSLR with an adapter. You would think the versatility of the DSLR would far outshine a simple eyepiece camera. In my case, it did not. I find picture quality to be at least as good and in some ways better with this eyepiece camera. Ease of use is superior as well. Finally, I love the software. I've seen many complaints about it, but especially, for a beginner like me, it gives a full set of basic tools... video capture, still capture, imaging stitching, the ability to stack images to overcome field of view issues, the ability to do reasonably accurate measurement... I am very very happy with this product. Does it have downsides? Yes, some. While the software is robust from my perspective, there are elements that are not intuitive, and present a learning curve. Also, there are light related artifacts visible, especially at high magnification. Are they to a degree that this product is unusable junk? Absolutely not. I look at it this way, the artifacts were less noticeable on the DSLR under highest magnification, but overall, this eyepiece outperforms the DSLR in every other category. I think that's possible because the eyepiece camera was made for a microscope, wile the DSLR was adapted for one. In conclusion, I love this camera and would buy it again

Outdated software did not work with Win 7, no customer support to be found
Software way out of date, I could not make it work with Win 7 so had to send it back. Could not find any customer support.

I would not recommend the 1
Huge improvement over the MD 130 (1.3 mp). Software recognized it immediately, no hassles. I would not recommend the 1.3 now that I've seen the 5.0...this makes the samples come alive on the screen, super clear and worth the upgrade!

seems to work well
I've not used it a lot so far but it seems to work well. I keep an old laptop by the microscope for capturing photos with this and have them sync to google drive. The mechanical attachment to the microscope seems a bit screwy but it works ok

Es una cámara sencilla pero que cumple de sobras para lo que necesito. Soy micropaleontologo y lo quería para medir fosiles de menos de 1mm. Se ven bien todos los detalles. La calibración es sencilla y el programa muy simple y fácil de manejar.

Eyepiece fits perfectly into my binocular compound microscope. Software loaded first time onto my Windows 10 laptop. Have since updated the software via the AmScope web site, again with no issues. What a joy! Was delighted to find so many features within the software, particularly the ability to measure what is on screen with the calibrated grids. Can easily share what's on the microscope slide via Zoom (to note my laptop sees two cameras during Zoom calls so you have to select/swap between the laptop's camera and the microscope camera usisng the "join with video" button. I am a technophobe so this was a real pleasure to discover it is idiot proof.

Items works fine, but be warned there is £19.81 customs duty to pay on top of the advertised cost and postage.
