Very effective
This collar was recommended by our dog trainer and has been a God-send for us. We moved from the country to a subdivision and our dog knew no boundaries and was terrorizing the neighbors dogs who were inside their invisible fence. This has cured that very well. She also would jump into the pond to cool down and chase geese. This has taken care of that as well since we bought her a baby pool to cool off in. Now we don’t have to worry about her drowning since she jumps in when she’s tired and gulping water at the same time! She didn’t need a very strong setting either. Start with a very light touch and increase as needed. She’s a smart dog and didn’t need much. We turn it off when not in use but keep her collar on for most of the day. To see your dog look forward to wearing the collar, put it on just before you play with her or take her for a ride (anything she looks forward to) and she’ll beg to put on the collar! Our girl tries to stick her head in the collar before I get it ready if we aren’t quick enough to put it on. Also our trainer said to turn the collar so the points that touch her neck are on the side muscle and not on her throat so it doesn’t irritate the throat. We’ve touched the points on the collar to test the strength and realize she’s not feeling pain, just a surprising feeling like static but she’s easy to train too.

Simple use
I received this item for a Christmas present and it is easy to use. The directions are simple along with installation. My dog responds well to it, and it has worked great for training. I recommend this item for the price and the quality. I use the item on walks with my Airedale terrier and for training such as sit down and heal. I’ve been training recall commands, and this is coming in very handy. I use it at the lowest setting and only increase the intensity if needed I would definitely start out with simple commands until your dog is use to the collar vibration. Don’t bother the cheap brands. Definitely spend the extra money to get this high-qualitycollar.

Stimulation is very inconsistent
If you are considering buying this model, don't. Instead get the 280C. Stimulation is very inconsistent, I do not feel at all confident or comfortable using this for dog training. I have owned a Dogtra e-collar in the past for years with excellent results and I am very familiar with how to train with these devices. I am training a smaller dog, about 20 lbs, so I thought I try a different, smaller model of e-collar. This one is a really good size for a small dog and the product is very straightforward as it relates to proper usage. While I do prefer a digital style controller, this dial controller was passable and I think a good tradeoff considering how light the controller is. This collar has so-called "conductive plastic" contact points. If hearing this makes you skeptical then your skepticism would be well founded. I was also skeptical since plastic isn't conductive, but I trust Dogtra and figured maybe they just put a thin layer of plastic just above the metal contact points. I found this to be super frustrating to work with actually. The stimulation is very hard to predict as compared to my previous model with the metal contact points. I would have the dial set at around 10 and sometimes my dog would indicate it was effective and then at other times I would have it dialed up to 30 and get absolutely zero reaction. Worse is that if I would set it in the middle at 20 (which is just a little more than a tickle) then sometimes it did nothing and other times the dog would jump two feet in the air in surprise. This dog is a small breed (20lbs), short-haired Chihuahua/Rat Terrier Mix with a normal temperament so there is no reason that this product should not work. The collar wasn't loose at all and I am very experienced with these devices so this is NOT user error. I have completely stopped using this because it isn't fair or effective to training with it. Unfortunately the return window is only 30 days, barely enough time to get the dog property accustomed to wearing this before heavy training and I am now about 3 weeks outside of the window so I'm out the money. I called Dogtra and they said that since I purchased from Amazon that I would have to run any return through Amazon. Dogtra doesn't offer any kind of buyback or exchange. I was really hoping they would stand by their product and at least let me return this and purchase another model at a higher price point, but no luck. The representative recommended the 280C model, which gets you the digital dial, metal contact points, and 1/2 mile range (as compared to only 400yards for the IQ Mini). I feel like I'm out the money basically now which makes me want to explore other brands, but I had such a great experience with Dogtra with my last dog in training that I'll probably still stick with this company. There are lot of awful brands out there and I don't want another poor experience.

Smaller size for a Cairn Terrier. Works great!
Im familiar with e-collar. I have a Cairn Terrier who is mostly obedient but if you know the breed it can be a challenge to get them safely off leash. As well she's a challenge with cats ! I needed an ecollar for a smaller pup and this has been a hyge help.

Fits great
Fits nicely on my small dog. She has a very thin neck and I was worried it would be cumbersome, but she seems very comfortable with it.

Well known brand, works just as described.
I needed a reliable, safe product for my small yet very willful dogs. This works very well. Battery life seems sufficient - just remember to turn them off after use. The vibe feature is all I usually need unless my hard headed little guy smells an animal on our walks, then a slight correction works great. No more running and screaming after him through the woods. Haha. Both my dogs like the collars and get excited when I take them out because they know it means it is walk time. When used responsibly and correctly, these are a great training tool.
