great to start a fire in the fireplace.... just be careful to hold match close to end as they tend to snap in half if holding them too far back.

Hold the matchstick in the middle of the handle while lighting. It has a tendency to break.
These came in handy, the moment I got it. My water heater pilot went off. I needed one of these match sticks. They worked really, really well. There's no problem with the combustion head when you strike it, it lights up nicely,but the handles... If you don't hold it closer to the head or center while striking, it has a tendency to break easily. The match stick isn't real strong. It's flimsy and also be careful. It's not shaven down so you can get a sticker careful with that. Even with the two cons where the handle's not shaven down and it can break easily, I would still rebuy them. The burn time. It's pretty much like any other match. Sometimes it gives out fast, and sometimes it don't.

The matches are just fine, but the price is very good for this 4 pack. I’m not sure why the other matches are so much more expensive. There is a piece of sandpaper on the bottom of the box to strike the match with. The more expensive matches have a much larger striking area on the side of the box. But these matches light beautifully. And the wood seems pretty identical to the more expensive matches. For some reason even though I order 1 pack of 4, I received 6 boxes. So I will have enough matches probably to last me the rest of my life!

i have not used them yet, but they are what i expected.

For lighting fires, starting them deep in the belly of my enclosed wood stove, these are ideal. They could burn a little longer, but that's small gripe as opposed to not having dropped matches before the blessed fire catches, or burnt fingers caused by trying to hold onto a match until it does.
