Great children's book
I used to read this book to my kids all the time when they were little. I actually bought this one as a baby shower gift. I didn't realize it was a paperback when I bought it.

Best book, newborn and beyond!
This is the BEST children's book, full of beautiful illustrations and clever writing. We have completely worn out one copy and gotten another for good measure. This is timeless and a joy for both the reader and the child. Should be a classic in every family!

Imaginative
This lyrical, fantastical journey of berries is a great read-aloud. As a bonus I think that it's good advertisement to help children to eat a nutritious berry snack as they associate berries with the fun adventures in the story.

FAMILY FUN!
This book is for Mom and Dad (and aunts uncles, Grannies and Granpas etc) to read aloud to the little ones as soon as they can see. The more drama in the reading, the more fun. One of the kids just giggles whenever they hear "one berry, two berry...!".There's no big story, no heavy moralizing, no politics, no nonsense, just a feast of colorful pictures, fun-sounding words and vocal play, and a joyful time spent together.I think we've gifted a dozen copies to family and friends.Just fun!

As charming as when I was little
Yummy berries and clever, adventure-filled illustrations. The simplistic poetry is in character with the cheerful Huckleberry-esque backwoods bear who acts as a boy's guide through the fantastic Berryland in the woods next to his house. Rustic, whimsical, and refreshingly sweet, much like the experience of berry picking itself, this is what the author intended if you read the dedication in the back. I wonder if the off-beat, topsy-turvy bear with the beat up hat is tribute to his grandpa. I read the book as if the bear were narrating, so the author may have intentionally avoided formality in the text. Notice no punctuation, loose rhyme, and sauntering momentum--yes, very laid-back and unrefined like a vagrant backwoods bear would be. He may have a top hat and try his nose at "Po: a tree" once in a moon, but the hat is merely a token of whimsy for this bumbling bear that falls with ease into every exciting happening in the land. He may be unrefined, but he is clearly likeable and knows the good things in life.

Classic
I bought this book for my children about 30 years ago. When my grandkids were born, my children asked me to get them one so they could read it to their children. Unfortunately at the time, I couldn't find Jamberry in print. You can't imagine how happy we are to be able to purchase it again. I have bought copies for each of my children. The pictures and illustrations are just like we remember.
