Great value, these are very large. My only complaint is the mechanism used to fasten the cuttlebone to the cage is seems fragile although I’ve had no issues yet. It doesn’t seem like it would withstand a vigorous scraping.

I'm not using this cuttlebone for a bird, I'm actually using bits and pieces in my aquarium tank for my aquatic snails. I found that buying this version for birds is far cheaper than if I buy the same product sold for aquariums. I compared the ingredients in both this version and the type they sell everywhere for aquariums, and they are identical...it is plain, unadulterated cuttlebone. I put it on a hard surface and break it up with a hammer and put several small pieces in the tank. The snails go right over to it. I read online that they need calcium for their shells to be healthy,and this is a much cheaper way to do that without being gouged just because the packaging says it is for aquarium use instead of bird use! The photo shows my snail enjoying the cuttlebone, so a picture really IS worth a thousand words!

This review is for Amazon, not for the product so much. One of the cuttlebones arrived completely shattered. However, everyone knows that cuttlebone is very fragile and breakable. My question is, since this is so obvious, why does Amazon not regard this at all? If Amazon, which fulfilled this order, would’ve not just thrown this item in the box along with a heavy bag of bird seed and a few other items and instead actually perhaps taken an extra second and protected my item, I would not be stuck with one shattered cuttlebone. It broke enough that the wire that would attach it to my bird’s cage came off and cannot be reattached so essentially I am now stuck with the option of either tossing it, or somehow sticking it in my bird’s food dish or some other area in hopes that I can still get my money’s worth. The product itself is great and is much larger than I anticipated which I am very happy about. The missing star is for Amazon’s handling, not for the merchant. Disappointed.

I first ordered as an add-on for less than 2.00 for a 2pak. They were larger than what I could purchase in the store, also cheaper. My budgies wouldn't " bite" at first. I thought maybe, the cuttlebone had an unusual odor because, they wouldn't touch it. I thought, maybe it's for larger birds because of the cuttlebones larger size. After a couple of days, they went at it like crazy lol. Because of the larger size, it tends to last longer. I thought "eureka" ! They love it! And the price is fantastic! Then, the price more than doubled. No, I was not happy, but, Rentaro, and his chicks, Halo and Blue, love their new treat!

I’m using these because I’ve made an attempt to keep red cherry shrimp in an aquarium. I started noticing molting issues. I broke these apart and put them in there and the colony of shrimp seems like it doubles every two months. Also, I have pest snails, they’re breading like rats which is great for my pea puffer fish.It had been years since I had birds so I thought these were more like chalky rocks and they aren’t. They’re more like a reaaaaaallly dense styrofoam which is nice for my application to secure them down.I’m no scientist, but it’s doing exactly what I want. Two thumbs up.

The budgies love the item. What I am learning as far as bird products. Once in awhile a cuttlebone is cracked / breaks soon after opening. And I don’t know what to do with a cuttlebone which has no bracket for the cage bars. The birds like Millet but it is really messy : floats in the air and not good when people have allergies. Some of the millet online arrives really dried out like it is old. The birds are lovely : lots of bird cage cleaning as a duty.

My birds chew at this cuttle bone voraciously. This one has been in the cage for less than a week, after I took local pet store one out. I had an e-cuttle and they gnawed that into powdery pieces in less than a day. As much as they chew on that and the perch sandpaper stuff they should have well groomed beaks.

These are hard to ship because they are brittle and soft. BUT they arrived just fine.

My birds love it but its not perfect to attach to the cage. It would be better if the clips were a little long to hold on to the cage.

Awesome price when they go on sale. They are very big. I get them for my snails
