If I hook this up to a android phone,do I need to install anything special?

You may need to download a USB Camera APP from the APP Store.

Can this be LIVE Viewed on a android phone, and how does this work on a android smartphone do i download a app from play store?

Hello, this camera is not an IP camera, you have to connect it to the device which you want to capture the image on. If you want to live view the image on your mobile device, you can use some remote software to monitor the device that is connected to the camera.

Can i force ir mode through the uvc properties?

There are three ways to force IR mode. 1. Change the lens holder to a Noir lens holder. You can contact sales@arducam.com for customization services. 2. Unplug the 2-pin connector to the PC board, and adjust IR Cut to IR mode through camera control adjustment. 3. Use something to cover the Photoresistance.
