Kona Joe Gourmet Decaf Coffee Blend, Medium Roast Whole Bean Coffee (8 oz)

I love coffee, but had to stop drinking it for health reasons years ago. I didn't know just how decaffeinated decaf really is, I thought it just meant less caffeine. As soon as I found out a cup of decaf has less caffeine than a square of dark chocolate, I went back to my coffee snobbery right away. :-) Back in my caffeinated days, my favorite kind of coffees were Kona blends. It looked like it was gonna be impossible to find a whole bean, decaf Kona blend. Everything I looked at was a K-cup, or some other kind of pod. But then this one from Kona Joe's popped up in my search results. Not only is it decaf and whole bean, but it's also a dark roast. It's a little pricey for me, but I just couldn't walk away. It's everything I hoped it would be, and brought back all of the Kona nostalgia. It's got the gentle, floral tea-like Kona signature, with a bold, dark depth that doesn't disappoint. Very smooth and full-bodied. The aroma in the bag was a little underwhelming so I was a little afraid I'd be disappointed, but it came alive after grinding and brewing in my espresso machine. I've gotten decent crema from this blend, even for a decaf. The flavor stays strong, even in milk and under a layer of thick foam. If you like coffee so strong and sour it takes the skin off the roof of your mouth, this one isn't the one. But if you're seeking a good decaf Kona, this one slaps! Because of the price, I won't be able to buy it often, but it's nice to know I've got a good decaf Kona blend for an occasional treat. :-)

Love this blend (kona joe gourmet decaf). Wish it were a little bit cheaper, but oh well.

I liked this decafe coffee better than most and it had a good after taste !!

Very nice. I treat myself in the afternoon when I take a break if I have been good and completed my chores. I tend to procrastinate. Is an incentive.

Mt husband and I have been drinking Kona coffee for 10 years from a different company, which had a smooth rich coffee taste that was always a pleasant experience. When I couldn'tget that brand recently, I substituted this brand. We have always used whole beans and ground the ourselves. This coffee is always bitter and has a weak (not robust) taste. I can barely finish a cup. We have change the setting on our coffee grinder numerous times and change the measure of coffee we use and still bitter and weak coffee. Won't buy again.

I was introdused to Kona Joe coffee when I visited my daughter on the Big Island- Hawaiʻi. My daughter took me on their big tour and I got to see the whole process from the trees to the roasting & packaging. The flavor is so good and it is great whether it's iced or hot. Smoothe yummy coffee whether reg or decaf! The price is really great, too. Consider a visit to the farm (it's on the Kona side) if you make a visit to the Big Island!
