Installing Brakes? Just get it.
I was one of those guys who assumed any ole brake cable kit would suffice, and that might be true, but why just suffice when you can do it right? This kit makes everything simple and the materials seem just a bit more quality than the generic cable I purchased at my LBS. Don't be like me. Do it right the first time with this kit!

Great Porduct
Good product. Good price. Had everything needed to do the job. But they could have supplied 1 or 2 extra end-caps for error, dropped piece. Do the rear first, but when you cut the length for the front piece make sure you cut from the correct end, as end-caps come pre-installed on each end. So you may be one short, as I was. Had to use one from the old cable guide. I also found that when you cut the cable guide, there is a plastic lining inside that gets deformed. I found that a finishing nail, held by a vice-grip worked better than an awl to open it up.

High quality wire and a trusted brand
I have used Jagwire multiple times and so far it has been a reliable product. My last brake wire lasted 5 years and over 3000 miles. Happy to change it and it felt smoother immediately

Installed on a vintage Trek Multi-Track
My application is a 1990 Trek 720 Multi-Track (that had original brake and saddle cables). The Jagwire cable is noticeably thinner than the (29-year old) galvanized cables I replaced (reason enough to replace the sheath, too). The Jagwire cables seem to be ferritic stainless (higher iron content - like bar-b-q tools and outdoor grills), so they are magnetic and will eventually discolor/rust, just not nearly as quickly or as bad as galvanized coated carbon steel cable. The cables are double-ended, so they will certainly need to be cut. NOTE: Side-cut pliers or a cold chisel that you may have used successfully on galvanized cable will not work well in this application! Make sure you have a sharp set of cable cutters capable of cutting stainless cable and you should have minimal problem. Also be sure to round out the end of the sheath you cut so the cable inside will not rub.I cannot speak to any effect of the outer sheath's construction because much of both cable runs are in the open (my front cable actually drops through the handlebars) ... I only have a few inches of sheath at the handlebars. I found the product to be exactly as advertised and just test driving they seem to be an improvement in my perception of solid pull to the brakes.

Almost Perfect
It would be better if Jagwire was kind enough to actually CARE and send me a black housing I paid for. Instead, they sent me a gray cable, with a sticky label saying "Black" covering the original description "Gray" on the packaging.Jagwire, just because you covered the sticker "Gray" with the one saying "Black", did not actually made the housing black. That is not how you change the colors. This was the first time I replaced the brake cables. The kit had everything I needed (the bike was a regular sports store bought Ironhorse Urban hybrid bike).I did not buy any cable or housing cutters, because I found on YT a better method for those who have a dremel with a cut off disc, which I have.I simply- marked the cut line with a blue marker,- inserted the new cable into the housing about half an inch past the cut line- started a thin stream of cold water onto the cable so that there is no melting- then carefully cut off the cable with the cut-off disc- then finished the cut flat with the flat side of the disc- pulled out the cable and shot a silicone lubricant spray down the cable to lube and to remove any possible metal dust from cutting. This resulted in an amazing perfectly flat cut on both, the cable and the housing (although the cable cut was just to prevent the flattening of the inside jacket of the housing, so I did cut the cable again later for the length, after installing it and adjusting the brakes). The brake feel for the real is about 25 to 50 percent less spongy than the old original Ironhorse department store cable, so thats good. So, other than sending me a wrong color, the quality of the kit itself was outstanding.

Worked great for my application
I needed to raise the handlebars on my new e-bike, which caused the stock brake cable to be too short. I did the research as to which type of cable I needed, purchased this one and the necessary cutting tool/pliers, and the rest is history. The instructions are clear and explain step by step how to do the job.

Really good quality!
So we thought by disc pads themselves were the issue before we looked up the issues and realized it was probably a cable problem. After we changed them out with these they work 10x better! Some of the best cables out there!!
