Works great.
After 9 yrs of use, the built-in Ethernet card burnt out on my desktop PC. No biggie, i figured. I'll just go to Best-Buy and pick up a PCI ethernet card. After the B-Buy employee stared at me with a blank look on his face, i said, let me guess you don't know what i am talking about. Those guys are just morons these days. Anyhow, it ends up they don't even carry them in store. So i ordered this one online. It cost like $10. Great! I plugged it in and it worked. Pretty easy stuff. Now i can continue my quest to keep my dinosaur PC alive FOREVER!!!!!! Muhahahahahaha, MUHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! (evil laughing)

Saved the day.
My onboard LAN carped out and I needed a cheap adapter, STAT! I ordered this with 2- day shipping and sweated out one day with no internet. I got this quick, read the quick install, disabled my onboard, inserted the cd, shut down, installed the card, restarted and XP did the rest. I re-booted (probably unnecessary, but no harm, no foul) and my 2-wire modem sprang to life again. Hot-diggity! Best price and quality hardware, what else do you need. Heck, it's helping me write this review right now and I think it's correcting my typo's on the fly...just kidding. Don't hesitate, I did all the research for you, buy it.

Seems to work well.
I ordered this when I was still in the middle of fixing my problem of my cable modem disconnecting during any sort of downloading thinking it was my onboard NIC starting to go bad. It turned out not to be the NIC cards or the routers but instead the original cable splitter I got from my cable company went bad and was causing all the disconnects. I am still using this over my onboard NIC now and it seems to work great so far and have not had any problems with it at all. The drivers install quickly and was very easy, even grabbed the latest ones online that I could find and those work well also. The only weird part with this NIC card that I have never seen was this card would get no link light on my cable modem when plugged directly into it,even the link light on the back of the nic card would not turn green. So in turn it would never get an IP and was not able to get on the internet. As soon as I would plug it into my router I would get a link light on both the router and the nic card and it would grab a IP from the router instantly and I was all set to go. Now this isn't a big deal for me but there is still quite a bit of ppl out there that just hook directly up to their cable modems and this could cause problems unless it's some sort of defect with mine. I gave it 4 stars because of this. This doesn't matter much for me or most people with a router, but can cause some problems like I had when I was trouble shooting my connection and was trying to rule out any problems with my router and could not directly connect to my modem with this card.

Great network card for the price!
I have a motherboard with built in network adaptor which went bad and I spent numerous hours trying to get it fixed. Finally fed up with all the hours spent and not getting anywhere, I resolved to buy this card since I have one expansion slot available. After I un-installed the original network software and drivers, then installed the software came with the D-link network card. Turned off the computer and unplugged the power supply first before inserting the D-link card into the expansion slot then reboot. Windows XP automatically sensed the new hardware and installed the driver automatically. Everything was done in less than 10 minutes and my network and internet was up and running. This network card works as well as others which cost many times more. It's a great deal for the money!

didn't even fit my motherboard
my onboard LAN went out on a gigabyte motherbaord. darn right? the way the connectors go, the metal outside would have to be inside let alone go through my motherboard before it would connect. I of course sat there trying to figure it out, and realized it wouldn't work so I gave my UPS uncle the package with a return label and sent it back. I would not recommend this unless your motherboard is upside down, where the smaller part of the pci port is closer to the outside of the shell

Easy install, questionable quality
I read a good many reviews before selecting the d-link nic card. I found the install easy and trouble free- but the quality isn't what I'd expected. The RJ45 connection is poor (cable doesn't lock in) and I've lost my connection several times, having to remove the card to get a proper connection. This may well be a faulty card, but I can only speak from my experience with the one, which thus far has not been great.

Buggy
This card embarrassed me. I recommended it to a friend with a Gigabyte mb, and it crashed the machine repeatedly. An obsolete NeXXt card delivered the goods. I was puzzled, as I had used it successfully on an IBM mb and an ASUS mb :(

Absolutely Greeeaaat!
Ok, so I don't often say that. But really, this NIC is super. I am a PC/Network tech and I use this card on new & old Win PCs as well as RedHat, Mandrake & SUSE Linux. The Nix distros all recognize it without any additional drivers. If you want to compile it into the kernel, get the driver form Dlink and have at it, but it is not necessary. This NIC performs great on each OS I've used it on. It is a great card for ADSL and works perfectly with SpeadStream DSL modems. The 3Com cards may have more bells & whistles, but for this price you can't go wrong - and a lifetime warranty at that. The retail for this card is somewhere around 35 or 40. Overall, unless you have a specific need for a specialty NIC, try this one!...

Bought to replace a broken internal network card. It was easy to install, and does what it's supposed to. Windows found it right away.

Well thanks indeed to 'maple tree' who wrote a review (Dec 2007) and got me thinking !!! Got out 'old faithful', my old w98se computer and installed this PCI card, Ref D Link DFE-530TX 10/100Mbps PCI Ethernet Adapter Card, and just as he/she says, it has given my old w98se machine a new lease of life. Install the driver from the supplied CD first, only THEN (after initial reboot) install the card and hey presto, my old w98 computer is now on my small home network together with my Xp computer. Am I pleased... you bet. The actual install went very smoothly with no problems experienced whatsoever. The card arrived just 2 days after ordering. Amazon on the ball yet again. Thank you. To give an update on the driver details, this new card is compatible from w98se right up through to the dreaded Vista. I now have a worthwhile backup machine with loads of my old favorite programs on it together with a permanent backup location for the more sensitive stuff. All this for around a tenner! Great find. Thank you 'maple tree'. Without your post I doubt I would ever have bothered. All IMHO of coarse.
