The tape is very thin and is a matte finish and the tape is very strong but, none of these qualities are what is so important about this tape. This is a dressing tape, made to keep a dressing in place without irritating the skin.

Q: can tape be put directly on wound

Based on my experience with it (been using it for months) I would not put it directly on an open wound. You could put it on a scar, but be careful peeling it off.

Sorry for the delay... The tape is white. A sort of fabric, so I would say "matte". There are two really nice things about this tape that I love...1. It has a printed grid on the liner that makes it a snap to cut the correct amount of tape each time, and 2. It doesn't irritate the skin. My Sig.Other has had his face and head bandaged (2 separate surgeries) since January, with no issues at all.

Q: How do you remove the remaining edges of Hypafix once you peel it off you skin?

Once you peel off this tape, NOTHING remains on your skin. It comes off easily when you pull it away from your skin, and leaves no gummy, sticky adhesive behind.
