Top of the Range Specs at Mid Range Prices
I have been a fan of Huawei phones since I got the P20 Pro nearly 2 years ago now, so when I needed a second phone for work, I naturally looked at the latest Huawei phones. The Nova 5T is one of Huawei’s latest and is a mid range price and comes with Google Play Services (so the full range of Google apps is available despite the USA/China spat). Out of the box, you get the phone with a built in screen protector on the excellent screen, a Super Charger and Super Charger cable along with a pair of wired USB-C earphones. The phone I received is a Midsummer Purple in colour, which looks very good, with a dual sim slot (even though the advert on Amazon said it was a single sim). The sims that are used are both Nano sim varieties. The specifications of the phone are similar to the P30 specifications, with a top of the range processor, 6Gb ram and 128Gb storage. The camera is also excellent with a huge range of options, including the fabled RAW photography functionality. It uses plenty of AI to get the right picture first time, and for most users (with settings like Macro, HDR, slow-mo and panorama), this will be an ideal camera too. An added benefit of the AI is also that the camera can do online searches from a simple shopping snap, along with QR scans. Security is covered in multiple ways with the power button doubling as a fingerprint scanner (it is very quick too) along with options like face unlock, pin, password and pattern. The fingerprint scanner is a part of the phone I feel could be better to be honest, and only because I can feel the edges of it as it is not chamfered. This is a small niggle though and not a real problem at all. In use, the phone has a battery that last for ages. I have had 4 days out of it with limited use and an easy 2 days with moderate use. This is also similar to the battery life I experienced with my old P20 Pro and was a pleasant surprise given the phone cost less than half the price of the P20 Pro. The one thing sadly missing from the phone is water resistance. Unlike most flagship phones now, the Nova 5T doesn’t offer any water resistence, so it is advisable not to use it in rain. Currently the phone comes with EMUI 9.1.0, which is based on Android 9.1. EMUI 10 is apparently being released for the Nova 5T in other countries now, so it should be coming to UK ones soon too. Overall, I am impressed with the phone, especially given the sub £400 price tag. It has flagship level features from 6-9 months ago, but at lesss than half the price. This makes the phone one of the best value for money phones at the moment. I received this product as part of a review program in return for an unbiased review.

Excellent all rounder
Nice big IPS LCD screen. Clear to see. Moving from an AMOLED one, I noticed the difference at first, but after a week it makes no difference. Plus for a few days I was still using the screen protector it came with which made it hard to see in sun light. With a new clear tempered glass screen protector, Id say its equal visiblity wise to the AMOLED. I don't notice anything massively different tbf. Long lasting battery. I like the "ultra power saving" mode, because in this mode you can choose up to 6 apps that you can use. So I use this to prevent myself from being distracted by other apps, only allowing the essentials, and not having to charge it for ages. It charges super fast anyway. Size wise its actually a bit smaller than the average big phone these days. It is about 1cm bigger than the last phone I had (s10e). And im happy with it, whilst also not being gigantic like an 11 pro max. Most big screen phones are this size, and the nova 5t is about 0.5cm smaller. Huawei cloud also allows me to back up my notes, files, contacts, etc in one safe place, in addition to having phone finder. I also have them backed up in numerous google places, but it doesn't hurt to have them backed up there too. It will be much more stream lined incase my next phone is huawei. Camera is good too. Equal/better than the s10e, I use it occasionally, not that much tbh. Finally its very powerful. On the antutu rankings, its like the 35th most powerful phone out there at the moment. For the price and its relative "old age" in the smart phone world that kind of amazing. Aluminim frame also, so its solid and "properly" built, not with a plastic frame. I have nothing against plastic framed phones. Finally, it just looks great. Not sure what else to say, im happy with it.

Good all rounder but WIFI issues.
I bought this to replace my huawei p9 lite, although that was working well the 16gb memory wasnt enough. This phone had a superb camera with plenty of settings. Its battery life is good but my partners g8 power puts it in the shadows in that respect. The good news is it does charge fast if you have a heavy day of use. I've removed some of the huawei apps and i like the EMUI 10, but I'm used to using Haiweis EUMI. The screen is nothing special but shows colours well, a prefitted screen protector was in place when it arrived. The phone looks physically great however it is glass and therefore slippy, I'm sure it would smash if it dropped on to a hard surface. This phone really does need to be kept in a case. At this point you need to be warned, the finger print sensor is superb but many cases will make it awkward to use with it being on the side. My only gripe is the wifi, for some reason even when sat near my home router the wifi is slow and often freezes. I've compared this with using my partners G8 and my old P9 lite, its defintely the phone. All in all its a good phone but personally I'd be disappointed if I'd have paid the £399 first release price in 2019, luckily I paid much less.

Das Handy ist sehr gut, allerdings kam es mit einem Stecker, den ich nicht verwenden kann. Dementsprechend einen Stern Abzug.
