In addition to steeds this expansion provides more cards to bolster your chances of obtaining helpful cards from the base game including more monsters, items, race and class cards, as well as a few go up one level cards. The cool thing about steeds is that you can choose to fight them as monsters when drawn face up from the door pile at the start of your turn and their level is double that of their combat bonus so level 8 monster for a combat bonus 4 steed. Each expansion enhances the munchkin game experience and I highly recommend this 4th expansion the need for steed.

A great product! Arrived twice faster than said! Good quality cards that are fan with the whole deck if them! Greatly recommend.

Adding all these expansions give you some majorly large decks to play with.

The Need for Steed is a 112 card expansion for the Fantasy Munchkin theme. It contains 78 door cards and 34 treasure cards. It does not introduce any new classes or races, but it does introduce steeds (which are big items that carry themselves and have some sort off special ability). This is an interesting addition to the game. You don't need a ton of expansions to get the most out of the base game, but the base game and least two are definitely worthwhile investment. As noted in my other reviews, I own all of the Fantasy Munchkin expansions, and if I were to recommend an order to get the most new variety for your dollar, this one would be near the bottom of the list (still worthwhile, but there are several that I'd get before this one). Instead, I would suggest Munchkin Clerical Errors as it adds a race and a class, followed by Munchkin 8 Half Horse, Will Travel Card Game as it adds two races and three race/class enhancers, followed by whichever ones that are most interesting to you after that.

I bought this expansion as opposed to clerical errors meaning I skipped one expansion and I do not regret it. The steeds really add on a new kind of fun for the game. The rules of the Steeds are very easy to understand, they're just extra boosters for your Munchkin. The only thing you have to be aware of is that The Steed's running buffs or debuffs override the ones of your character, so if your elf has a +1 to run, and you have a turtle steed, with -2, you have to follow the -2 without any thought on your +1. I don't believe the steeds override equipment running bonuses though, but that's just the way me and my friends play. Also this expansion includes the bard class and gnome race that is given to you with Clerical Errors so I thought that was a bit of a nice bonus, although they can be a bit overpowered.

This additiom to munchkin adds in plenty of easy to use cards and some mechanics. It is so much fun and just makes an already great game better.

We initially bought the regular munchkin game but went through all the cards quickly. So we went ahead and got this expansion. We love all the new cards that this brings to the game. It makes it a lot more enjoyable to see new cards you haven't used before. Definitely recommend

Nice pack! Fresh ideas introducing mountable steeds that will help in the dungeons . Funny and punny content as always , munchkin never fails to deliver . Totally recommended to be bought with as many expansions as possible . Always fun to play , always wanting to play again :) Let the dungeon exploring continue forever !

I had tried to find out which series had those light-colored back side cards and I thought Munchkin 4 was compatible with my old dark-colored basic set, but I guess it isn't! Otherwise, everything else was fine.

Amo munchkin

Bought alongside munchkin8 (half horse will travel). They work really well together as the new race of centaurs in 8 will allow you to keep any number of steeds! Great fun. We now have munchkin delux and these two expansions and I think that's just the right amount. Won't keep getting the same cards but neither is it too unwieldy.
